I agree with whoever from last post said that Osgood should start so Crosby and Malkin can embarrass the bejesus out of him. VOTE OSGOOD.

IMO, we should take a break from the Sid voting (since he is now handily out in front with a large lead Habs fans can do nothing about without their precious scripts) and vault Geno to number 1 out of respect for what he did for us last year in Sid's absence and what he is doing this year. What with his breathtaking plays and his increased leadership (jumping Gaustad last night in defense of Rev. Lovejoy, a new player who he barely knows) I think he definitely deserves the top spot. Not to take anything away from Sid, but Geno needs to step out of his shadow a bit and he has earned the respect of the fans. It may just be a formality, but ASG balloting is one of the very few ways we as fans get to honor our players. So I say, let us pay respect where respect is due. Geno for number 1!

Greetings and Salutations C-Blog! First time post'er here...This blog has been a staple of my life for the better part of three plus years and i read it and your comments every night before i fall asleep from my blackberry, which weirds my gf out when your comments make me laugh out loud!

But i post today for the first time because i have never been so proud to be part of something (catapulting Geno over the habs) since i was shown in the crowd of Romper Room!!!

Just an epic endeavor and dont think for one second that we didnt have something to do with it! Hats off Staff and I bow before you C-blog humbled and grateful to be part of something special! Now the question is, to echo e.mirchich, can we get geno to #1???

North America NEEDS to experience a Malkin interview! haha

TheNWChica said...

@brett: and the saddest part of that stat with JayBo in FLA? He's a defenseman.....not a forward.

@dying alive,
(from the last post) about a script floating around on the Pens board. I do from time to time read that board and i seen that post.
The "script" that was posted @ the Pens message board was the same one used by habs fans before the captcha was added. Some knucklehead *cough*fan*cough*, assumed since it worked for the Habers it would work for him and his 2 bozo buddies, without using the captcha.

My guess is it was not a Pens fan or some asshole messing around, since the "poster" only had a few posts to his name.

@Zach

I assume you are referring to this article when you say Geno is at #4:

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=397061

While this is a recent article from nearly 5 PM, the author states that he is using voting statistics from earlier this morning, namely the 7 AM sample. If you go to the actual ASG ballot and click "View Results" you will easily see that our boys are sitting where they belong, in the 1st and 2nd starting forward positions.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Posts like this have to be reserved for the Asian beast.

Is it too late to get Orpik into the top 10? He's around 14,000 and Redden has maybe 58k the last I looked (which I'll admit wasn't today, although I don't see the Rangers faithful really backing him.)

44,000 isn't much of an obstacle, is it?

eileenover said...

I think it can be done j.s. but people are slacking with the Brooks votes.

fleuryous said...

JS, I've voted for Orpik every time. I really want to see him up there. I don't know if my efforts are in vain, but I'll keep doing it anyway.

They fail to mention in that article that Gonch and maybe Whit won't be eligible for the all-star game. whoops.

akus said...

How wooooooo would it be that a c-blogger wins the trip for the ASG voting.

Can you imagine what the numbers would have looked like if the Hab fans would not have used a script.
Ovie would probably be in the top 4-5 at least.

Don't these other fans even care about their team/players??

@brett- not only is gonvh not going to be available, but whitney is not even eligable, because it says the player must play in 20 games by the 20. Math wise, it's not possible. However, it makes me giggle that two players with no chance of participating are still kicking east ass.

Allison said...

God damn typing on blackberry sucks-

I've been voting for Orpik like crazy. Also voting Iginla, Toews, Kane to get Hossa and co out of there.

@crusher
I've also been concentrating on iginla, toewes, and kane...in hopes to get hossa out of at least the top spot.
ovechkin needs to be 3rd, but it sadly looks like a lost cause.

J.S. said...

Redden 55243 votes
Orpik 13456 votes

My math skill is OK on it's best days, but I think we're only looking at around 41,800 and some small change to get him on the board. Considering what has been done for Sid and Geno in the last week, this can be done.

Vote for 44. DO IT!

[Orpik, 8468498]

[[Hrdina]]

one more thing...Orpik has picked up 42 votes in the time it took me to type this post, now up to 13498.

J.S. said...

meecro, is Sean Avery listed anywhere on that site, or is it limited to previously published douchebags?

Allison said...

@js- that orpik gain might have been mine(at least I'd like to think so)- I just spent 13 solid minutes texting in "orpik" "letang" and "pens". Yea, I'm procrastinating a paper. I'd text in staal too, but its too much of a bitch to vote for him through text cause he has two brothers apparently.

tang is better than o.j. said...

i was looking at the douchie awards meecrofilm linked to and as i scrolled down i read that the douches who run the site claimed to not know sean avery (at least at the time)...

i could only dare to dream to know what it's like to walk this world without having heard the name "sean avery"

eileenover said...

I'm voting for Iginla every time I vote, he is pure class. Hossa has nothing on him. And Price is one of the most overrated goaltenders in the league. No way in hell is he better than Fleury, and he completely choked in the playoffs last year. I think Fleury will be back really soon, so it's time to get him to that first spot.

@TheNWchica,

Geno was 21,833 votes behind.

is it crazy to say vote for ovechkin so that NO montreal forwards will be in the starting lineup? How embarrassing would that be for habs fans (and face it, ovechkin probably deserves it)...

Stoosh said...

Ovie needs to be there just as much as Sid does. Ovie definitely needs to be there over Kovalev. Kovalev is back to his old enigmatic self. He scored 35 goals last year; this year, he's got just five goals in 26 games and is on pace for just 16 goals on the year. Dude hasn't scored a goal since November 1.

Ovechkin has more assists (21) than Kovalev has points (19). For a puckhog like Ovie, that's sayin' a lot.

Some people are still under the impression that the Top 3 goalies in the voting standings will make the game. That isn't the case. Only the 'tender in first will make it in purely by voting. The other two are selected.

Basically the point of this is that Osjoke won't be sniffing the all-star game. Which, as has been noted by some, is sad, 'cause who wouln't want to watch him get shelled in the offensive lovefest that is the all-star game.

wilsmith said...

has anyone read this article yet? I dont know, it's new to me:

I heard tpb got a mention on puck daddy, too.

and bettis is from detroit.

I can't vote for Orpik for this, because you know, it's an all-star game.

Dr. Turkleton said...

Emo Miller is full of it.

The bench penalty came after Toma$ Vanek X-checked Orpik in front of Sabu, resulting in an interference penalty...someone started chirping from the BUF bench right as the ref was about to signal the penalty in front of the penalty box...which resulted in the ref Teeing Up the Slugs.

Miller must be hallucinating from popping too many water pills whilst not eating enough food.

Counting down the hours to get the plaid handbag...er, gym bag at Thursday's game...that matches the plaid hat given away a couple weeks ago...[ugh]

Does Charlie work for Highmark™????

J.S. said...

I won't give Fraud-sgood the satisfaction of being voted in, regardless of what a joke he is. I've been voting a rotation of Nabby, Turco, and Leclaire. Nabokov is strictly to get Luongo out of first, although I don't see it happening. LeClaire and Turco are voted for in hopes of a high scoring game for the East.

I'm also giving Iginla, Toews, and Kane my Western forward votes.

meecrofilm said...

Some homies get called up.

I'd imagine this means Zigo isn't ready yet. Also that maybe somebody is gettin' scratched. My money is on Godard. I'd rather have that happen than scratch Minard.

The Goon Blogger said...

@meecrofilm

I think scratching Godard is a solid idea, other than Clarkson the Devils don't have a big boomer, and Clarkson himself isn't that big and bad anyway.

I'd like to see Taffe and Minard on a line, see if they can chip in on the NHL level after dominating on the AHL level.

wilsmith said...

Hopefully Taffe keeps his head up this season.

Mormina is waiting.

debrisslide said...

Why haven't we called up a centerman yet? Talbot is so much more beast at wing. My favorite 4th line centerman in the league and all, but whatev.

So, with all the big guns from the AHL saying hello and 4-4-2 in the L10, I'm going to quote Kimberlass and say that we're never losing again.

The Big K said...

Why haven't we called up a centerman yet?

A couple people have already said this, but Taffe and Wallace just got called up. Taffes a center. But I think its more to do with Malkin and Crosby becoming 1 line, and therefore needing another center. I think Talbots still gonna be in the middle.

debrisslide said...

Malkin and Crosby aren't permanently one line though.

I guess it doesn't really matter, Therrien shuffles the shit so much that Taffe will probably play as a center before the week is over.

fleuryous said...

I'm thinking Lovejoy is going to have another great performance tomorrow night.

I really like him, so I'm glad that he got an opportunity to play in the NHL. That being said, I hope Gill recovers well and quickly.

PS. So are there actually any Habs fans, or are they all robots? WOO.

Annie said...

For the West, I've been voting Iginla, Kane, Getzlaf, Campbell, Phaneuf, and Nabokov the whole time.

And I agree - let's get Flower up there!

meecrofilm said...

Don't look now, but the Flyers are now tied with the Pens for points.

and Eager For Balls still has more goals than Talbot.

Neither of these should be allowed to happen, nor tolerated in any way, shape, or form.

fleuryous said...

I noticed that too, meecro...but I actually made myself forget it, because Hartnell is a joke. And they will lose many more games, unless Hartnell whips out that glove.

And did I mention that Hartnell is a joke?

Nobody thinks we should just keep voting for what we have? Do you think the Hab's aren't going to try and retake the lead? The did cheat to get this far you know...

Now keep plugging away. If you want a real goal, punch bing and gino OVER a milli.

If Steve McKenna can score nine goals in a season in this league, Babyfat Ben Eager can get five. Babyfat has just as many goals as Kovalev.

*HOT NEWS*

The Tampa Bay Lightning have traded their first round pick in the 2009 and 2010 Entry Drafts and defenseman Paul "Ass" Ranger to the Chicago Blackhawks for LW Ben Eager.

Tampa Bay owner Oren Koules was ecstatic. "We finally got Vinny Lecavalier another scoring winger. Eager has as many goals as Kovalev, and really, he's only six goals behind Evgeni Malkin, and Malkin's leading the league in scoring. So this is awesome."

"No, this isn't awesome," said co-owner Len Barrie to Koules, "YOU'RE awesome, bro."
