Well guys, it's that time of year...
The time for giving, drinking, and holiday cheer.
This year, in honor of one of the greatest fake holidays ever created, lets get together and do something right! It's a Festivus for the rest of us!
Come to Calico Jack's on the North Shore and help benefit The Mario Lemieux Foundation.
I will be accepting donations throughout the night. You can officially "bury it" yourself in my donation box. (that's what she said) Also, my dear friend Randy the magical bartender will be generously giving 25% of all his tips to the foundation. He's a beast. You'll see.
All donations will be given to the pledge drive started by a great man and friend, Matthew Craven aka your c-blog fan favorite, blackngold66:
LINKThe goal is to reach $660 before January 15th. We are only a few hundred short and I believe that in one night, we can easily knock out the rest and then some.
There will be great drink specials all night. And for those that haven't reached that magical age of 21 yet, don't you worry, it's an all ages event!
Plus, come watch the Pens skate all over Tampa Bay up at the bar.

@ Allison- thanks. I just got back from the burgh a couple weeks ago. I was in attendance for Sid's hat trick against the devils. I would totally come, but I don't think I could drive like 5 hours through Ohio twice in a 30 day time frame. It sounds like you know how craptastic those drives can be. As practice wound down, several players engaged in strip hockey -- you don't score on a breakaway from the blue line, you take something off; you score, you get to put something back on. The clear loser was defenseman Kris Letang, who eventually was trying to score on one skate -- his left foot was bare -- and was also without his helmet, gloves, jersey and upper-body pads.
I bet the ladies would have liked to have been at that practice =P

Back when I was a Canucks fan, I probably felt about Pavel Bure the same way some male c-bloggers feel about Scuds. That, of course, was back when Bure was a 60-goal scoring, free-wheeling badass who wasn't afraid to throw the mother of all elbows.
Unfortunately, he whined and cried and kicked and screamed his way out of Vancouver a couple of years later, which wasn't all that bad because it cemented me as a Pens fan for good in the mid-1990s.
@ Allison, don't worry, you are definitely not alone in the Letang love. I remember watching that stick making video and thinking to myself that I could watch that man use power tools all day.

The first one actually did turn me on a bit. The commercial with the panda literally changed my life... And that puffy jaw was pure sexy.
I had read about the special hattrick before, but hadn't seen that little feature on it, so thanks for that. That whole incident is why he is a greater human being than I'll ever be.

Yeah, when I was little I guess I was drawn to the Mighty Ducks, just cause they were the Mighty Ducks, or something. I always think it's funny to read stuff like this because it makes me realize how long I've been watching this great sport.
I've always associated Pavel Bure with the Canucks. There are some fans who only remember him as a Ranger.
Conversely, I've always associated Mark Messier with the Rangers and then the Oilers - even though he played for the Oilers long before he played for the Rangers.
I'll always associate Jagr with the Pens. In fact, when I watched that #68 skate around in a Caps or Rangers sweater, it never felt like I was watching the same Jagr I'd cheered for just a couple of years earlier.
With Selanne, I've always associated him with Winnipeg. He was the reason I loved to use the Jets on NHL '94. Winnipeg Teemu and Anaheim Teemu are almost two completely different players to me. I can watch Anaheim Teemu and forget that this is the same guy who I used to watch fly up and down that old Winnipeg Arena in NHL2Night highlights in the mid-1990s, wearing that bright white Jets jersey. It's not like his game has changed at all...it really hasn't. For some reason, I just always identify him wit the Jets first.
So the Ovie thing has gone dry, whatev.
But guys and girls, think about what we could still do.
1st, Fleury is less than 100,000 votes away from catching Price.
2nd, Getting Letang and Orpik into the starter positions can no longer be done, but think about what we still could do. They are both less than 50,000 out of the top 10. Why is the top 10 important? Well thats what they show on the results page. Think about how cool that would be for them I mean, that would be awesome to at least get them on the board and get them some of the recognition they deserve.
C'mon Cbloggers. There is no reason why the Pens can't still dominate the ASG.
