Pens haven't won at home in forever.
We're guessing that Islanders blowout. We don't care to look.
And the Bruins always seem to give them a tough time.
The Bruins haven't played a real hockey team in a while...
They're not as good as everyone thinks they are...
Blah blah blah blah.

We personally don't do year(s) in review(s).
We have the halfway mark of the season coming up, which we grab by the balls.

Tim Thomas thinks it will be an easy win for the Bruins tonight.

I don't think so Tim.

Al Borland ftw
Not going with Phil Collins=Mistake
It won't be another day in paradise tonight because of that.
Al Borland is always a welcome sight when the Bruins come to town.
In the words of a Boston brewery: "Al Borland: always a good decision."
Let's do this shit!
Milan Lucic got demoted to the 3d line, which means he'll eat our poop tonight. He's a beast.
But Hal Gill is beastlier, esp. against his old team. Go Pens!
Mike Shannahan just got fired from the Broncos. Nothing makes my day more than Denver Broncos related hysteria. Wooooooooooooooooooooo.
Suck it!!!
clutch borland.
Tim Thomas' mom shops in the husky section.
go pens.
this game will be a real test.
do it.
also, anyone in the dc area:
I might be going to the bruins @ craps game over inauguration weekend, any advice for what else to do?
I've been away for about a decade now, so I have some catching up to do on the area.
This is sids 250 game and Staals 200. If Sid gets 2 points, he's tied with Bossy for 5th place in points 250 games into a career.
cool stats. anything on the radar for geno?
Geno- 5 more goals for 100 and 4 more games for 200.
And the importance of Staal's 200 game is that he's the youngest to ever play 200 games.
Literally laughed aloud at the Al Borland segue. Brilliant.
At the last meeting,
Sabourin>Thomas.
Away, at that.
Therefore,
MAF>>>>Thomas.
At home.
Hey, it's science.
Per the last post,
Mike S, that is rather fitting.
I was thinking of sending an apron to Holstrom, because he tends to our net more than Fleury.
Truth hurts.
[Keep voting for MAF in the ASG, because Carey Price is catching up. Gavomit.]
Go Pens.
Also, just saw that Goligoski is playing wing.
DO IT.
A Rooshian who wears lipstick
Ovie may be a talented player, but...
what a dick.
His business agent, douchebag.
Excellent GD candidate.
Go Pens!
fleuryous,
I think Gogo may be playing both, D and Wing. Maybe used as a forward on the PP.
( i posted about that in the last post)
I can keep up with the MT Shuffle.
Who knows maybe some new blood is what we need on the PP, it sure as hell can't hurt.
We'll be entering a world of pain because Walter Sobchak is not the gameday character.
As Aukus said, Gogo is playing both. Hopefully its just because they don't know how much Gill can play, because if MT is seriously thinking about moving Gogo to wing, I might go Tanya Harding on him.
Its kind of sad that the Igloo 38 minutes before the puck drops has more seats filled than we've seen in Atlanta and New York during the game.
Why not? Goligoski on the wing temporarily solves the problem of Too Many Defensemen. He just might be effective at it. And it buys some time for Shero to work his magic without having to healthy scratch some trade bait.
Besides, in a slump you've got to shake things up a bit. There's a quote somewhere about idiots who do the same thing over and over again but expect different results.
Goligoski will be on Sid's line by Thursday.
Victor, please go back to LGP and dream about how Gogo becomes the next 50 goal scorer.
You're an idiot.
Its that simple.
You are a complete and utter moron.
Putting him there for a game or 2 is one thing, but to make him a winger would probably be the most stupid thing possible. Gogo has been one of the best defenseman all season.
And look at the last 2 games dumbass, the slump appears to be ending. But even if its not, moving a top d-man to wing won't accomplish shit.
Just leave. You don't deserve the right to post on the Gore.
Laraque's better at yoga than Tim Thomas.
It's the truth.
Now stewy...play nice...this is amurrica where ALL are free to post on the Gore...
Bring the hate
Go Pens!!
Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. How absolutely pathetic is this? Pittsburgh, Yes, Pittsburgh, The Steel City, is shipping in the steel for the new arena from Quebec and Maryland.
Easy, fella.
Dumbass = Guy who took me seriously.
Shouldn't you be working on your triple Axel there, Tonya?
Victor=the guy who says dumbass shit and then covers it up by saying he was joking.
You've been talking about moving Gogo to wing for at least a week.
Bragblog.
I'm 17th overall in Penguins Extra Attacker fantasy challenge.
C'mon Mark Eaton, get a point.
J.O.B.I.N.G
and i aint talkin where the Yotes play.
chatblog. do it.
Maybe all Pens fans can send their good thoughts to Vancouver tonight about 10pm EST to help the Nucks take down the puppy drowners from Philthy.
someone needs to get the footage of USS Gill hump/stretching on the ice... hilarious!
haha Nicholas, I saw that too. I'm guessing that means his injury was a groin? He was putting some extra special humps in there to make sure it felt ok.
I challenge you to find any post of that nature authored by me.
@NWChica-no can do as long as Mats, the child-toucher plays there.
I speak only for myself, of course.
The child toucher??? Essplain plz?
I know someone did, and I'm pretty sure it was you. Doesn't really matter at all though, I called you an idiot and said you did something. Who cares.
Oh wow, Rage. That PS of yours sets new standards for photoshops.
Holly balls. Round of applause for the Flower everyone.
Fluery was god like with that save!!
well, he LOOKS like a dirty pedo, and I hate him with passion typically reserved only for ovechkin and hartnell, and holmstrom... Basically, he(along with the rest listed) should die. NOW.
Just sayin
Well Rage, maybe being out here in the lovely Pacific NW will do him some good... he'll grow some whiskers and get a sense of calm that will show on his face. I mean it's a hockey town, but not the live and die place like TO is.
Chara's a fag. I wish he would have fell down that mountain he climbed.
SYKIE!!!!!!
Sykie!
Goddamn it I love petr sykora.
I had a good feeling about that play with the way Tenk was going into the zone. Congrats to Jeffrey on his first point.
Sykora: I DO think so Tim
From one thing to another:
I can't wait until TK and Zigo come back. Those guys are awesome. No lie. Their absence is painful.
@NWChica- hell still be a douchenozzle....I won't pull for Philthy under any circumstances, but I'd love it if the 'Nucks lost every game Sundickless plays in.
I kinda liked that team for a second earlier this season.
Anyone ready to see a thread over at LGP calling for Crosby to be traded so Jeffrey can center the first line?
Gotta feel good coming out of the 1st with the lead. MAF was all kinds of beastly. Thomas looks like rebound city tonight. Jeffrey has the right idea. Just get it on net.
Sid was mud on that PP though. It needs to be said.
Cooke's new year resolution was fantastic.
What's your New Years resolution, Max?
"Well, i'd like to crush more huss. Chicka chicka yeah."
Every time I see the Penguins play a good first period I dread the inevitable third period collapse.
Pensexperience....SHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Talbot's new year's resolution was random as hell. What was he even talking about? Seemed like pretty deep stuff, haha.
Sid needs to flex his man muscle and bury one, or two.
Chara looks like the Great Khali.
Mud.
Some soft calls tonite, eh?
Pens are the victims of some ticky-tacky calls right now. Even worse is that those ones led to the goals. meh.
"Is John Gotti in there?". Hahahaha I'm dying. Was that steigy or errey?
Well, glad I missed the crap.
But yay, Super Duper!
When I saw Dupuis get that chance I thought "It's a shame Dupuis gets so many chances, there's now way he'll score" and then he did.
The Dupuis Play™
I was on the fence, but it's been decided. My next purchase shall be a white Dups jersey.
Well damnit.
Clearly the Pens should have drafted Kessel.
The Turnover in Your Own Zone Play™
Damn it.
@ PittHockey
Late to the party, but I live in DC. Are you talking about what to do before the hockey game or that weekend in general?
k i know it's so lame to complain about reffing but good god, what is going on
ashton, where are you- i must be getting punked
why bitch about the refs? People bitch about the refs then turn around and bitch about the suck ass power play.
Bibs is right, A Dupe's slapshot hightlight is needed.
i bitch because i care
...and because they keep getting powerplays and i am bitter :)
There's a difference between bitching at the refs and just disagreeing with a call.
For example, this is probably the only game this year so far that I'll "bitch" at the refs, because it's probably featured thte most consistently poor calls. And they led to goals. Still, if the Pens lose this game, I'm not blaming the refs, but I would say that they definitely didn't help the Pens' cause and did the opposite for the Bruins. Anyways.
It'd be big if the Pennies could pull this one out. Maybe Satan could pull a goal out of his ass.
Book TB for the SCF, start of the 3rd period,
TB 1
Habs 0
About time we got a call And seriously been some shakey calls tonight1
Wow... the Whitney Play ends in failure.
yay powerplay!!!!!
VOMIT!!!!!
SHG.
You gotta be kidding me.
=/
I'd like to know more about the lengths of players' sticks please.
sdhfdfhcjknjeh FUCK!
we need to shoot the fucking puck.
why the fuck not just crank that, why does it have to be a fucking 5 in a row pass off of someones ass, off of someone's nuts, perfectly on the tape of whitney and perfectly placed in the fucking corner!? please, just put it on net.
frustrationblog
uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh kill yourselves
Sad thing about the Whitney play is that it wasn't even open. That dude was right on him, and Sid couldn't slide it through.
Frustrationblog indeed.
seriously, i feel like this is a joke
SHG? ugh
the whitney play has not worked since the fucking 2006-2007 season. the whole league and their mom know the whitney play, in fact, the whole league and their mom do it better, see bruins first goal
unreal.
is 2008 over yet? gah
the pens are killin' me; my heart can't take this powerplays. must turn head away.
... wishing for 2009
pukeBlog.
overrated my ass. im starting to think we've all overrated our own team the whole fucking season.
UGH
I want to sell my tickets for the game in Boston
i love no look and drop passes... they work every time. oh wait
MAF must think he's havin flashbacks of the early years, because the bruins are lightin' him up.
oprik needs to just start killing ppl. --- old skool sports ...let's win at something.
Fuck do I hate the newer Great Day commercial..
orpik is scared. he might get a penalty for A CLEAN FUCKING HIT!!!! that penalty was an absolute bullshit of a call
My heart can't take another loss.
Seriously.. this is sad.
09? God.. it can't come fast enough.
@ pops
for real. pens need a back to basics lesson.
So, I'm going to take this time to say keep voting for Fleury for the ASG. Price has been catching up, and it makes me vomit.
He has been playing really well, and screw your mother if you think otherwise.
WOOOOOO.
Not looking forward to next game. I have a bad feeling it will be a birthday I'd like to have soon forgotten.
Yeah that's right.
losses happen, but this team clearly has no identity. last year when the pens were down with a PP in the third, you could bet your testicles they scored or at least got insane momentum to score just a little after it expired. this year, its joke city. losses happen, but the pens are losing in bad style yet again
i hate to turn this into lgp but i am concerned. very very fucking concerned.
the PP is a joke, the PK blows, and the penalties keep coming...
let's all take this time to remember november.
november rhymes with january (just go w/ it)
good things are coming, my psychic freind told me.
Oh wow, a candy cane stick! What could be next?!?!
stat of the day, pens average 1.2 shots per powerplay
that fucking blows.
ok im done bitching. happy new year, all.
I see it like this. I agree with your comments about the Pens being close like last year points wise, but it's not the same team. The offseason moves hurt the Pens bad. I don't see them being a force again till next season.
@btumpak
I agree completely. You've got to get the fundamentals down because otherwise the fancy stuff is not going to work.
thank god we're so good. oh wait...
we give 100 turnovers.
we try to play too finesse when we don't have enough talent.
we don't fucking shoot.
we play halfass
crap! just saw that we have to play them thursday. hopefully i'll still be sleeping.
wait wait "good things r coming"..."good things r coming"...game 5...game 5
2009 is a new year.
forget about 2008, it all starts in Boston.
go pens.
gave up 40 shots on goal. yaaaay
Come on, Wally!
wallace is a stud.
jesus, poor wallace
Jesus...this is terrible...failblog
Tim Wallace just earned some more time in Pittsburgh.
made him bleed, though
WOAHH!!
wallace's first NHL fight.
way to go bud!
At least I console myself with the fact my fake video game Pens are the best team in the league.
...nah, that ain't gonna do it.
lucic has retard strength
OOOH a powerplay, i wonder what will happen...
Seriously, I hate to sound like the fans in the Arena, but SHOOT!
Any opposing goalie could be pulled during a Pens pp......
because they don't shooooooooooot the damn puck.
As MT said, they better wake up, they better wake up.
satan missing an open net. same old same old
@pops
You took the words out of my mouth. I think we all overrated the Pens after what happened last year.
Look, I know this is the Bruins. I know the Pens have gotten hosed call-wise. But I'm still not seeing the team I saw at this time last year.
Too many mistakes in their own end. Way too many shorties against. I know the Pens are, points-wise, in the same spot as last year. But it sure as hell doesn't feel like they are.
They're limping to the half-way mark instead of getting stronger. They went 9-5-0 last December, which led to an 8-2-2 January. This December they're 5-8-1. This doesn't feel like the same team, and they start January in the barn of the #1 team who just beat their asses.
"Why so serious," Staff? That's why.
This team does not look like the Eastern Conference Champs. Thursday night is huge. Could be the turnaround the Pens need. On the other hand, it could solidify the feeling that the Pens just aren't as elite as we thought.
Mike Yeo should take barbiturates. He'd be a more effective coach.
2009 is just around the corner. Shero will make a move you can bank on it. This roster will be shaken up for the better.
cblog should be fun to read for the next 48 hours!
I sure there will be numerous Stooshipedia entries that cover, but are not limited too:
Trading Staal.
Firing HCMT.
Firing Yeo.
Sabu > MAF.
It's still early.
Whitney sucks.
[insert any team above the Pens in the standings] are overrated.
Stay safe, cbloggers...
[HAPPY NEW YEAR!]
They need to fucking come out of the closet already and say what's up with Ziggy.
This undisclosed injury biz is like having a sandy vag.. irritating.
well at least wallace gave a smile, yeah he lost, but he's got BALLS for days!
Big trade or firings are coming. This is not the playoff team we saw last year. No desire..they don't look as quick as they did last year. Don't look like they're having fun. it's painful to watch.
What month does it have to be before we stop saying "It's still early" and "Their record is the same as last year?"
"I think we all overrated the Pens after what happened last year."
Comment of the night so far. But will there be contenders? Let's wait and see!
Tonight, the bottom line is, the Bruins capitalized on the oppurtunities given to them, while the Pens did not.
Oh, and I love Tim Wallace.
@doc
if you're an nhl assistant coach in charge of a powerplay and you have these players to work with: crosby, malkin, sykora, whitney, goligoski, hell ill even throw satan in there even though i think he blows, if you can't throw a PP unit together that can score somewhat consistently, you have no business being an nhl coach. im sorry, but honestly, no fucking business. thats what i think of mike yeo. he has had success in the past, but there is just no excuse or argument.
but i definitely agree with you. why so serious? because this team is showing no sign of waking up, no matter how many times therrien threatens.
another disappointing performance.
19-18. concerned yet?
Damn..
Seriously..
I mean.. it's not like we lose every game..
But I just feel like this shit is getting old.
Well, truthfully, Wallace already has more balls than Kessel.
That was harsh.
Go Pens.
(seriously vote MAF)
Maybe Big Poppa Pump seen something with this team......that we didn't see.
drop the team off in the middle of a forest for a few days and make them fucking figure it out themslves
they need to get mad and show some emotion
Meecro, I think Fleuryous just took Comment of the Night with...
"Well, truthfully, Wallace already has more balls than Kessel."
Best use of a testicular cancer joke since some French guy jobbed Lance Armstrong.
oh well, happy new year, all
2008 wasn't bad to the pens. hoping for an even better 2009
@Fleuryous-
It's cool, 'cause he made a full recovery =p
@akus.
Yeah, Hossa didn't sign here because he knew that the Pens were a mediocre team that just happened to coast through the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Game.
At least there was a good fight...
Wallace looked like a madman, nice to see some emotion.
Docciavelli,
You're just saying that to get yourself off the hook ;)
Usually the comment of the night refers to a, uh, less than educated observation, to put it kindly. Like when someone blamed the Tampa loss on Fleury. That's big time talent right there.
What makes me sick is seeing the St. Louis Blues with more offensive firepower than the Pens right now. And as I say that, the Devils take a 3-2 lead in the third.
[vomit]
anyone know that happen to tanger? they mentioned him today, but they really didn't say anything?
are these ppl locked in Mario's basement are something?
Fans from other teams can stop accusing the Pens of getting the calls their way.
ps. when your unemployed and you look forward to the Pens game two days in advance and the show up like that...i can understand the boos, but i know most of you jagoffs that dont boo think your better fans so whatever... the pens have time, but they need to make some progress quickly so this slump doesnt turn into a mindset.
Well, meecro, if you'd like to categorize my comment as a "less than educated observation," so be it. Sounds like you're in the minority.
I'll let my words stand as they are.
Now, are you going to repeat the fact that it's still only December 30th? That would be "educated."
I don't give a fuck about the allstar game.
I care about the real season. We don't wanna end up the Dallas Cowboys of the NHL - full of allstars but don't win anything.
I don't know the answer as to what the hell is wrong, but the captain and coaches better figure it out.
Thierren is not unfirable at this point.
I'd like to see another Shero move this year, I just hope we're in the race when it happens. At this rate, we won't be.
Take the bus to Boston.
Short bus, long bus.. I don't care.
I'm expecting a Penguins win on January 1st while I'm in Chicago for the Winter Classic.. wooooo.
To each his own. I think that most of the people here would say that we didn't overrate the Pens after what they accomplished last year.
I'm NOT, but I will say that the season isn't even at the halfway point yet ;)
That fight along with his bone-crushing hits should earn Wallace a lot of playing time in Pittsburgh.
Why would they demote Bissonnette today, knowing Godard is still injured? Bis would have taken on Lucic!
@rickyaustin
The Pens don't need to make some huge personnel move. They need to grow a fucking pair. Plain and simple. Stop the cutsy bullshit play and get tough. Hopefully Wallace sent that message late against Lucic.
If, this player
If, that player
If, the pp
If, the refs
Ifs,ifs,ifs...
It is what it is.
HCMT said it, team concept.
Priority.
--
Shit i cursed TB, Montreal beat em in a SO.
@Doc,
Stop the cutsy bullshit play ... I think MT would agree.
anyone watched HCMT comments? care to relay for those who didn't? pleeease? thanks
Staff, that picture implies that only the male fans of the Pens are jumping of the bridge. I'm insulted. The one female in their is just chillin' watching the show.
I want an equal opportunity bridge-jumping picture.
trade mahlken
I second meecrofilm's comment.
On that note, I'm off to pack for the Classic.. probably will be too inebriated to remember this years, but hell.. can't turn down free tickets.
Have a Happy New Year, fellow Cbloggers.
best nut cancer joke of all time was last season
Gary Roberts challenged Lance Armstrong to a who has more balls contest
Gary won by 3
i'm just throwing this out there.. saturday and sunday night some pens (sid, geno, whit) were out partying in the southside til about 3 am. maybe that has nothing to do with how they're playing, maybe it does.
pops,( dont quote me here)
MT said the special teams didnt get the job done....
And team concept has to be a priority.Team, not individual.
The presser was very. very short.
In Shero I Trust.
[No cheese, Gromit?]
@akus
thanks much
I happened to watch the NESN feed. Jack Edwards got the new arena's name wrong. It's Con-Saul, not Con-Sole.
That being said, the Penguins were in this game for 2 periods. The SH goal to make it 4-2 was the killer.
The Bruins are the new Devils, system hockey with good goaltending.
Hopefully I will see a better effort on Thursday.
Adding to the presser comments...
Therrien said some players are more focused on "personal agendas." Interpret that how you like.
Sid made a comment about something being "closed doors," at the beginning of his interview. Your guess is as good as mine.
5-8 without Ziggy.
14-6 with Ziggy.
just sayin'....
happy new year's all!
The post-game interviews actually made me cry a little inside. I heard they had a Players Only meeting. Therrien laid the smackdown, I'm sure.
I think FH was right--Phil Collins needs to man up for us tomorrow.
Go Pens.
players only meeting after the game or before?
I hate to blame a loss on one player, but Jordan Staal has to bury that.
After
@FH.
It indeed was a pretty miserable attempt on net. It was actually going wide.
It might have been harder to not score than score on that occasion. I have never seen such a pathetic attempt to finish a chance.
Sid out partying....two nights in a row? Somehow I doubt that unless there was an eyewitness. Meh...
Something needs to change, but what?
Did anyone see Orpiks comments, he said the "team attitude" is not good and now the team is facing adversity, you see peoples true colors...he also said some hang their head and expect one or two players to carry the team. Not sure what he mans about the attitude and who has a bad one.
MT mentioned the "personal agenda" thing twice, then split...
@ the NWchica .. i saw him and geno both, with two girls, saturday night after the game at diesel. my sister saw them again sunday. its not something i'd make up.
even if they/he/whoever was out on the town, holy shit its TUESDAY now.
-
I seen Orpik's comments.
Losing on any team will cause shit within a locker room that carries over to the ice.
A few HUGE wins in a row cements a team and is a great Rx.
I wasn't saying you were making it up. Just doesn't sound like him, that's all.
What? They're going out at night? That's why they're losing. Players from other teams don't go out at night.
@theNWchica,
Get one of Your 'Nucks to step on Hartnell's other toe, or give his skate a hard slap shot.
the sarcasm is unnecessary.. i know other players go out. it's just sid was never one of them. things are just different this year, that's the point.
it's weird, as much as i bitch about this team, and as much as i think i'd be better to take a break from watching the games...i just found out that i'm going to miss the one on new years and i'm kinda choked haha
i read somewhere that letang is expected to be back by the end of the week but who knows. zig is still MIA
"the sarcasm is unnecessary"
No, it was completely necessary, finally my proteges on here are taking their first steps on the way to becoming another FlyerHater
Crosby should become a monk, send Malkin to a gulag, and cast Jordan Staal for the next Van Wilder movie.
haha in a place where i am probably the only pens fans for kms (or miles, whatev)...this blog, even FH, keeps me sane
Basically, Sid is probably the one player on the team I'm the least worried about losing their head/focus.
I knew there was something different this year. Now i know what. Sid's a party animal, coming into games still drunk from the night before. Also, MT should have given Gogo a better chance on the wing. He should put him on Sids wing, and maybe put Letang on the other wing. That would definitely turn things around.
Also, I bet Orpik is complaining about how Sid whines and bitches. thats my guess.
Oh and one more thing, fleury sucks.
Me=not having a good day and sick of dumb people
Sid made a comment about something being "closed doors," at the beginning of his interview. Your guess is as good as mine.
Did he try closing them with a spin-a-rama backhand? or.
force them shut while someone was standing in the door jam?
Van Wilder: What is wrong with people today?
Hutch: [taking a hit from a bong] It's the internet, it fries their brain cells.
@akus: I want Bieksa to slam his ugly red head into one of the end boards.
lol The Canucks radio guy just said that Hartnell "looked despondent" when he missed a chance on net. I wonder if he tossed his glove down and had a hissy fit.
Hey Meg? You must be new here if you think that sarcasm is unnecessary. It's the only thing we have some nights like tonight.
I'm not new here.. I just started following the blog last season.. but it's my first night facing the flyerhater hostility haha so that's new
"but it's my first night facing the flyerhater hostility haha so that's new"
If you want to be taken seriously, you have to go through me at least once.
I'm stunned that no one has blamed Fleury for the loss yet. He obviously had nothing to do with it, but the morons usually hang their hats on the goaltender when there's more than 3 goals scored, no matter the circumstances.
FH: Bench Fleur... bring up Curry!
The Canucks aren't making the playoffs either. Fuck I hate Hartnell and Carter and Richards!
At this point, I don't know whether to root for teams above us to lose, or teams below us to lose.
Like for example, who you want to win if the Rags played the Sabres right now?
Root for no 3-point games.
Humph....Sid and Malkin would be at diesel when i'm not there. jerks.
Rachele is a bar rat.
WOOOOOOOOOOO!
BNG IS A HOOKER
WOOOOOOO
I don't care who they're playing... a Rangers loss is always good.
Thoughts, dudes...
1. Per Bourque on the post-game show, no one knows for sure about Letang, but he's supposed to resume skating within a week. No timetable on Gonch, but the realistic projection is still late Feb. at the earliest.
2. Even Bourque and Grover were saying in the post-game show that there is something missing from this team.
3. What is going on with this team has nothing to do with players going out more or anything. Madden said on his show that there are no issues between players in the locker room, but the locker room has noticeably less of the laid-back friends/brothers/family feel this year. Madden said with certain guys, it feels more like they're just coming to work...it doesn't seem like they're having as much fun being around the rink and around the team. He was careful to point out that this seems to be isolated with a relatively small number of players.
4. I'm just speculating off of that, but I wonder how much some of the new guys are making an effort to fit in. There are certain things you see on the ice - communication-related things - where it still looks like some of these guys are playing together for the first time. And it's the same players over and over. I think Orpik might be right...there seem to be a few too many passengers on this team. Just my opinion.
5. Dear NHL - get your officials on the same fucking page. Tonight your officials looked like they were making up the rules as they went along. I've seen better, more consistent officiating at dek hockey games, and half the times, those were officiated by some guy who was best friends with half the players on one team.
6. Gutsy showing by Wallace.
7. They were in the game tonight through two periods and part of the third. The shorthanded goal was a buzzkill. Not to pick on Sid, but the simple play was a shot on net and he probably should've taken it.
8. I will admit, my expectations for Miroslav Satan were vastly overrated. I have no problem with what Fedotenko, Cooke and Godard have brought to the team. I think Feds needs to be a bit more physical, but other than that, they're about what I expected.
Gonna be really interested to see how everyone responds not just Thursday against Boston, but going forward for the next week or so.
