There is nothing like getting the hate juices flowing early on a Saturday.
The Sens have been a joke this year, but we knew that was coming for a long time.
But let's not forget how one game can change a season. Over a year ago, the Pens were in the Sens shoes, except none of them fled the country after committing a crime.
The Pens were a similar 8-11-2.
The Sens were an astounding 16-4-1. They were cruising.
Then, the Sens pooped themselves in 6-5 shootout loss and went 27-27-1 the rest of the way.
There is no reason to think something like that will happen, but it is amazing how fast things change.

Fleuryous... Sean Avery's interest in fashion is not that interesting to me. I honestly think he's using it as just another tool in creating his image. If you think about it, most hockey players dress well and like fashion. Look at any off-ice picture of Max Talbot or Geno.
Avery is a self proclaimed clothes horse, but he's not creating any new trends or looks with his own dressing. Someone who was truly into fashion is always trying to be innovative and unique. Although Avery claims to be interested in women's fashion, not really mens, any fashionphile would automatically bring innovation into their own lives.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I think he uses it for shock value, because of the preconceived notion that all "tough" hockey players don't care about fashion. He probably thought that some guys would call him gay, so he could have an excuse to start crap with them.

I'm happy that Sens got penalty but I still hate it
I'm not a big fan of these stupid pre-arranged fights between enforcers, because that's all too many of these enforcers are reduced to anymore.
But Neil and Godard are two guys that can both play (Neil maybe a little moreso than Godard), and that fight reminded me of some of those bouts in the late 1980s or early 1990s, when you'd see two guys that could play AND fight square off, beat the crap out of each other and then come up and give each other a pat on the back afterwards.

@Stoosh, I agree. I think there are too many of those fights and not enough emotion in them. I would love to see fights that were borne of true emotion and passion for their team/mates.
It's just not fun to watch the same guys go at it over and over. Fights are a part of the game, but I'd love to see guys like Max or Geno, or TK get involved with someone just because they care. I know it happens sometimes, but the fights currently seen in the NHL are too much of the same.
TK v Upshall fight in the ECF...still one of the most entertaining I've seen.

@ Vanessa - I had this same conversation with someone about Avery. I think he also said he played with dolls just to get dudes to call him gay and want to start with him. Everything he does is soooo calculated, and yet a lot of people buy into it.

No one gave two pounds of rat shit about Sean Avery when he was with Detroit. And for the most part, no one cared much about him when he was with Los Angeles either, outside of his little pissing match with Brian Heyward and Laraque accusing him of making a racist remark on the ice.
When Avery got to New York, it was a match made in heaven because the New York media is more interested in someone that can create a story than they are actual talent.
Avery has never eclipsed the 40-point mark in a season (he had 39 in 2005-06) and he's never scored more than 15 goals in a season, yet somehow the media managed to make him just as relevant as guys like Brendan Shanahan or even Jaromir Jagr. And now the rest of the media now treats this guy like his opinion on things matter.

@Stoosh-- I know what you mean. I was reading up on his stats after that Elisha Cuthbert thing and wasn't impressed. I always knew he wasn't a goal scorer.
It's so true about the New York media doing anything for a story. My sister-in-law is a member of that group (NY reporter) and my husband jokingly calls her stories "Baby in the dumpster stories". I totally agree that it was the perfect situation to get his name out there. He's nothing more than an attention whore who happens to have been lucky enough to get into the NHL.
