explaining that if he only wore one, people would target it. Wearing two was gonna make it harder for opponents to target the bad foot.
Anyway, if he was wearing those covers in the postseason, maybe the injury was still nagging him.

Not everything is Staal's fault. For instance the Sharks goal isn't his fault. But the fact that this game isn't tied at 1-1, that's staals fault. The fact that staal has had about 103940 chances to score and doesn't have a goal yet? Yep, you can't blame that on anyone else except staal.

staal had as many goals in the playoffs as sid, sykora, and malone. i'm fine with him starting slow if he can perform like that in the postseason
1) No well coached team gets out-shot this badly this often. Play like professionals.
2) I'd overlook Staal's problems if he was a checking line center. But his job is to put up points- and as long as he's sucking balls Sykora is a complete no factor.
3) Why dress two guys that just dress to fight in the first 3 minutes? You are still lacking a left winger that can score- your top two scores in WB/S are LWs. It's worth a shot.

I think the lack of shots on goal is a direct effect of Gonchar's absence. Crosby and Malkin seem to be doing alot more carrying the puck into the offensive zone than they should.
