FLAMES TO FACE COYOTES IN PRE-SEASON GAME IN WINNIPEG
The Calgary Flames will play a pre-season game in Winnipeg in September.
The Flames announced their seven game pre-season schedule on Tuesday and their second contest will be against the Phoenix Coyotes at the MTS Centre.
The game will take place on September 24.
The Coyotes, originally the Jets, moved from Winnipeg to Phoenix after the 1996 season.

Hey, everyone ... like I predicted my dream was really weird from the Candyman song ... I was walking through my school and the music started playing. Suddenly, it started pouring candy, and Free Candy himself checked Lindros before taking my arm. We then proceeded to run down the halls grabbing handfuls of candy, eating them, and throwing them in the air. Bugsy took my other arm and did the same. So weird but kinda nice.

The singer and guitarist for the band Barenaked Ladies has been arrested on drug charges in upstate New York.
Police say Steven Page was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance on Friday in the Syracuse area.
Authorities say the arrest occurred at about 2 a.m. after police noticed a suspicious car with its driver's side door left open. They say they found Page and two women in a nearby apartment, along with cocaine and marijuana.
Barenaked Ladies' manager Terry McBride confirmed the charge to the Post-Standard of Syracuse but declined to comment further. The singer, released after paying $10,000 bail, is due in court Thursday.
Page helped form the band in 1988. The group, know for hits such as "One Week" and "Pinch Me" recently released their debut kids CD "Snacktime."

Comedian Andy Dick has been arrested in California for investigation of drug use and sexual battery.
The Sheriff's Department says Dick, 42, was arrested shortly before 2 a.m. Wednesday in the parking lot near the Buffalo Wild Wings Grill & Bar in Murrieta. Details were not released.
The former co-star of the TV sitcom "NewsRadio" is being held on $5,000 bail.
In 1999, Dick was arrested for possession of cocaine and marijuana after driving his car into a telephone pole in Hollywood.
Last year, he was cited in Columbus, Ohio, for urinating in public.

I have had sleeping problems my whole life. My mom would get so mad when I was like 8 and couldn't go to sleep for school. I would cry my ass off wondering why I couldn't sleep while my Mom laid in bed with me til 3AM every night trying to help.
@penstone - I was kicked out of the Ontario soccer league when I was a kid for breaking some bitches arm during the after game handshake, her name was Emma and she had it coming!! that's my story and I am sticking to it 20 years later.

that was me too when i was little! i would get so upset cause i would try sooo hard to sleep and just couldnt.. i would be up all night and then would fall asleep in class (i still do that now, but cmon its college, what do you expect?!)
i do have sleeping medication, but i dont take it cause i dont trust it.. so i just deal with it as best as i can

@ penstone: Thing is, I don't feel it during the day. I don't get tired during the day. I live off of little sleep. I don't nap, either. I SHOULD take medication, but I never take medication unless it's going to keep me alive. I won't even take aspirin or whatnot. Ugh.

I didn't do a lot of sports as a child because my family had to deal with my older brother's baseball deal (Which made the baseball fields a 2nd home to me) and my younger brother's autism. I did have confrontations regardless ... like the time I threw a rock at a kid who made fun of my brother. He had to get stitches but I didn't tell my mom about it. Or all the beatings my cousins, their friends, and my older brother received ... I was a fighter as a child and still am.

me too, i have always been a fighter, especially when playing soccer, i was naaasty! ive racked up so many "unsportsmanlike conducts" and red cards, i feel like a soccer equivalent of BGL sometimes haha

wow that amazes me, my college roommate is like that too! she has major insomnia like me, but she doesn't need to catch up on the sleep. she can take a nap for a few hours and be up for the next 24.. its crazy

I agree that it's July and all and there's not much hockey related news but the I gotta agree with the forced conversations happening just to keep the comments between the 300 and 700 mark.
Instead of complaining about how dead cblog is, how about going outside into the world and doing something fun or fruitful and then coming back to cblog to discuss it and striking up some meaningful conversation?

i understand that you get annoyed at the various conversations and the overuse of phrases/names.. but i said it before and ill say it again, if you are sick of Free Candy and the conversations now, come fall/when the season starts, i can bet the comments will be at a rediculous amount. so, you may want to start getting used to it.. it seems that even when cblog is "dead" we still get, like you said, 300-700 comments. just imagine what it'll be like when something actually happens..

It just seems that people are confusing cblog for chatroomblog. There's a difference between having conversations on here with other people and making a point to let everyone know that "I'm running to the kitchen for a beer" or "I'm going to do this right now and I'll be back in 5 minutes".
Some people just don't care what every single person who comments on here are doing EVERY SECOND of the day.
And my point about the amount of comments is this: If there is 300 comments of good quality conversation going on, I think that's great! If 300 of the 700 comments on here are people saying "first", "turn the page", and "Free Candy", then I find it hard to believe that I'm the only one on here that believes the quality of posts as well as cblog on the whole goes down.
And I know what the next reply is: "Well if you don't like, then just skip over it or leave", but then someone will need to explain to me how exactly I skip over "X" amount of comments but yet still be able to pick out the quality posts on here.

i am sure you are not alone.. and i know i have days where i get upset with how many comments there are, and it takes me longer to catch up than to actually read a post. i believe that right now, the quality of comments is down because it is the offseason so there isnt much else to talk about. i would hope that by the time games are going on, people will be more inclined to talk about what we came here for, and at a much higher quality..
and like jefe said, i cant say im innocent of it either, but am totally agreed that you have a valid point.

I'm guessing that the hockey talk starts going back to 80-90% of the posts towards the later stages of September.
For me, cblog has become a second family. It's not that these conversations just happen online, they happen when we meet up. We just bring them here. We are all very far apart. There is no chatroom for us. This is what we have. I'm sick of the friends I have here at school and at home. It's all over dramatic bullshit. Meeting the cbloggers has made me raise my standards of friends and allow me to actually enjoy the company of some people. Why is it that you care so much? It's almost troll-like. You're telling us to go out and do something while you are here telling us that. It doesn't make any sense.
I go to work, come home and relax by talking and reading Cblog. The girl (HAH! had to!) comes over and then I'm gone 'til later in the night. I have trouble sleeping, so I read and talk here until I fall asleep. What's so wrong with that? It's the damn internet. Stop taking it so seriously. We have all formed quite a group of friends and I'll be damned if some people who are gonna be dicks are gonna ruin it.
People piss me off. Society is such a piece of shit.
I know there is filler. It's hard to catch up. It's mostly all filler in the numerous comment posts. Therefore, you truly have nothing to catch up on. If it's important, I hear about it. Somewhere.

I actually believe it's been down since before the season was over.
It seemed to me that people were just posting the smallest thing in order to beat the previous amount of comments from the last post. For example, if we got to around 370 comments then there were 30 or so comments of people just posting random stuff just so we can "turn the page" one more time before the next post.
Even in the offseason, I understand that there's no hockey to talk about but that doesn't necessarily mean the quality of posts has to go down. It just means we can switch to other topics...the ones we don't get to talk about during the season because we were too busy talking about hockey. Last summer was musicblog for example.
@lis - wake up, the preseason schedule was just announced and we are talking about it. where are you?! hahaa.

looks like your comments made some type of an impact... usually around the 190 comment mark you would start to see the word "TURN" from 5-9 different people and then comments 200-213 would be whoever didnt TURN THE PAGE complaining about not getting to do it... i didnt agree about the FREE CANDY thing or about people killing time in their day by using this as a communication forum (i know i do at times)... but i am with you on the TURN stuff
