We have the Pensblog season in review coming on Monday.
We couldn't hold back this video any longer.

First!!
The Cotton Candy Guy should really have his own sitcom on Network TV
Chris Tamer
great video. Cotton Candy guy has more pics of him then anybody else.
I love cotton candy guy
Fan
Flipping
Tastic!
Charlie is EVERYWHERE.
Embarrassingly, I sung that song -slightly- inebriated at Applebee's Wednesday night karaoke. I won't be able to enjoy it ever again.
Ok, just came home from the best concert ever on a happiness high from all the good music, and I come on here and see everyone trashing Bugsy.
I'm not trying to be rude but ...
He hasn't spoken to any media about the contracts ...
So how are yinz over Bugsy when he still too upset to talk to the media ... he's negiotating like all the the players ... I didn't see Orpik thrown under the bus when this Hossa article came out, or Ruutu, or any other player. Just Malone. Maybe I'm just pissed because it's about Malone, but you aren't even giving him a chance ... I started liking Malone because of his locker room presence, and he's bigger than Army in that respect ... he did wear the "A" when Gary went down, didn't he? I mean this rumor isn't necessarily true and we are all on the "Let's Get Rid of a Bugsy because Hossa is probably gonna sign" bus.
Ehh, just ignore me. It's probably 'cause I was in rain and stood half the day ...
even though this phrase is a bit over used on cblog...
life changing.
LETS GO PENS
im so proud to have gotten a picture in there, that was just incredible. the rotation on the anthem pictures was beautifully done.
awesome.
hopefully I can see something of mine in there
I am more than proud to have two ps's in there.
bring back robert lang.
lang trade interrupted when Robbie broke his hand signing an autograph
Dear Joe Starkey,
You're better than this.
woohoo, Geno Floyd made it on. Even I had forgot about that one.
i have kasparaitis- i totally agree. he's done a ton for us this year and i will be so choked if he leaves
but for me, i'll still respect him, and maybe flip over to a columbus/whoever game every once in a while on center ice to see how he's doing (like i did with army haha)
i mean, there's so many good memories i have of him this season, and he hasnt done anything to alter my opinion of him, in terms of being an ass or whatever if/when he leaves
BUT, sweet video haha i like
@ IHK -
I'm going to try not to say much more about Hossa being here long-term until he actually signs. From what I've heard, the first offer from the Pens was supposed to be made to him sometime this weekend and he would take it from there.
I don't think anyone wants to push Malone out the door at all. I just think the way the numbers are starting to line up, he might be the odd person out.
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Railbender Ale.
Drinky
Dranky
Drunky
Woooo!
@ IHK -
By the way, how was the Chesney?
That video is amazing. I saw the chocolate Stanley Cup in person wooooo.
@ stoosh
you never cease to amaze, even when you aren't throwing down sweet knowledge you are drinking a great Erie beer. If I say I love you, I pray you won't take it the wrong way.
college reunion is amazing
so many people I had no clue really knew me stopped me and said they're sorry about the Pens
I said, watch the fuck out next year.
WOOOOOOOOOOO
@Stoosh: I guess, maybe I'm taking comments the wrong way because I clung to him as my favorite after Kasparaitis. He was the first player I grew to love after Kaspar left.
The Chesney concert was awesome. I almost lost my voice ... Kenny Chesney waved to me, I caught a guitar pick, Leann Rimes touched my hand, and apparently I got some weird signals from the guitar players of Keith Urban. I made myself look foolish by screaming "I Love You, Kenny" and here him laugh ... good day all in all. (Except for the rain)
Woo. Three of my PS's made it!
Amazing video.
Hossa.
@ Beav -
I don't take it the wrong way at all.
I love me some Erie. I love representing the homeland.
One of my best friends from high school runs the Should I Drink That? blog, (also a Pens season ticket holder and frequent Pensblog reader), and he's the one who got me hooked on the Railbender.
*He's also responsible for introducing Youtube to what happens when you chug a Dogfish Head 120 Minute IPA back when they first started getting the blog off the ground ("waterbong in a bottle").
Funny thing is that it's the first thing I've had from Erie Brewing Co. since I tried a Mad Anthony's Pale Ale at a Seawolves game like ten years ago. Mad Anthony's tastes like carbonated Vicks Formula 44D...it's the Kris Beech of the Erie Brewing Co., while I believe Railbender is the Sidney Crosby.
@ IHK -
No need to apologize for being upset over the possibility of Malone leaving...that's just called being a fan. I've said before I had a hard time enjoying deadline day because for as thrilled as I was to get Hossa, I hated seeing Armstrong have to be one of the guys on his way out.
@ Hip -
That's hilarious! Maybe they're all Pensblog lurkers. That, or maybe the power of Gary Roberts has just compelled them.
It's been ten years this year since I graduated college, but I'm not sure if we're having any sort of reunion for it. Probably not. I'll probably go back for Homecoming if I can.
Joe Starkey is the Douche of the Town, and that's not looking to change in the next couple of years?!
If any of you feel like vomiting, head on over to the Tribune Review page and check out Joe Starkey's article on Malkin titled, "Malkin on Thin Ice"
Besides, if it comes to choosing between Malkin and Staal, Staal would be cheaper (though not cheap), and Malkin would fetch a better return in a trade. Not that I'd advocate dealing a 21-year-old wunderkind who might turn out to be the best hockey player on the planet, but from a Penguins' perspective, this seems like a logical train of thought.
STAAL over MALKIN? WTF
Me=Stunned
Does this man know anything about hockey or the Pittsburgh Penguins? Trading away Evgeni Malkin for a couple of high draft picks and mediocre players??
This kid registered over 100 points did he not, what did Jordan Staal hit?
The Malkin article by Starkey is garbage ... they should pay me to do their jobs ... I'll be cheaper. You do not have to pay me if you get me a ride to work and let me watch the Pens games. That'll be suffice. I promise I would be better at writing articles and making sense. Then again, I could find a 10 yr. old with better journalistic sense then Starkey ...
Starkey = Joke.
my head just exploded over that youtube video. or it was seeing pearl jam's setlist tonight. or the extremely loud music where i was at. or i should go to a doctor.
I sent stark an email. I couldn't stand it. It's really sad what some people will do to stir some controversy in a lame attempt to get readers. I guess it's our turn to have our guys thrown under the bus because we're simply making other teams jealous. It's an easy wagon for local writers to jump on too.
drunkblog? i missed it....shucks.
oh well....farewell cblog.
To all yinz fathers out there, have a happy Father's Day ...
I'm going to bed after Guy LaFleur's disco album and Kenny Chesney's cover of "Please come to Boston" (JK on Guy LaFleur, even though I think it's hilarious ...)
I'm gonna have a drink and pray that Malone stays ... (I seriously can't picture him in another uniform. He's been a Pen from birth ...) also, I need to relax after that concert ...
It doesn't matter which way I look at July 1st. I'm coming to realize that no matter what I'm going to have a broken heart.
@IHK
Were you by chance sitting to the left of the stage by the pit rail? A girl two rows infront of me yelled that a few songs into Chesney's set. I lol'd.
Also, I saw The Cotton Candy Guy (hereafter refrenced as TCCG) at the concert. Contemplated buying a water off him just for the sake of it. But I thought better of it and went for the good stuff.
I'm pretty sure I'm rambling now in a non-sober state...
Happy Father's Day to all applicable CBloggers!
And to Papa Shero, too!
beaut!
i loved counting all of the photos used that were mine,
good work, gentlemen.
Tearsblog...
Can't wait for the season in review.
Maybe I should get off my ass and {somehow} express how much this season, this team, this blog, yinz cbloggers meant to me (see:litterally kept me alive... no... really) this season.
Until then...
Staff... UN...REAL.
I nearly puked tears of fondness/pride at the Nat. Anthem part. Thanks for putting some of my stuff in there. You guys are fucking amazing... and although we're strangers, I love you just the same.
Drop the puck already.
Let's Go Pens!!!
Great Video!
@IHK - I'm with you with regard to Malone. I noticed it yesterday and was kind of pissed, but couldn't find the words to express it.
@flyer hater - Cotton Candy Guy's show would be way better than the Geico cavemen's. Someone should greenlight that shit!
Happy Fathers Day
Go Pens
great way to wake up
and happy father's day to all the dads
Woooo! That video is even more morning happiness than I thought possible!
Happy Fathers Day! Me = up and off to the grind. My dad = sleeping. So I'll wish it for the rest of you dads who are awake. . .
Wooo again. fdklsfjdsklfj
That video was incredible. I especially liked how the anthem pics went around the arena by section. That was all class and the pleasure's all on this side of the table.
Thank you TPB Staff for a great season.
great video Staff! I liked the "anthem at the Igloo 360" segment.
Happy Father's Day to all cblog fathers, from a cblog mother.
Joe Starkey=what a mistake. My head will explode.
I guess it is official - "journalism" now is all opinion and speculation, based on nothing but someone's thoughts or dreams or nightmares or...wait WHAT? isn't that a blog?
Shouldn't that think-piece be in blog?
Is Starkey trying to one-up Rossi who scooped everyone on the Geno interview?
Are they playing at good-cop bad cop with the fans?
The PG at least has the good sense to write nothing when there is nothing factual to write about, instead of just throwing out opinion disguised as fact. Keep up the good work Molinari.
Pensblog Picture Recap FTW.
You guys are awesome. I wonder if the Cotton Candy Guy knows he's a celeb? :)
Beav said...
I love cotton candy guy
more.information.than.necessary
Wow that was sweet. I especially liked the national anthem part.
Here's to 2008-09 having just as many stunned opposition fans.
only missed by a fraction.
Bravo
You know, I don't think the full five minutes of the song would've been enough... I loved seeing the pictures from the March 9 Caps game recap in there. The day my wife became a Penguins fan.
Let's go Pens.
The anthem pics....well i'm just stunned. Excellent montage. I could watch that baby all day!
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads of cblog!
Awesome montage.
Starkey is a total tool. If Staal or Malkin have to go. Staal goes. It's as easy as that.
@IHK
I wondered when you'd chime in about the Bugsy conversation. I thought at any second you'd come out cussin..
Outstanding.
Simply outstanding.
the good doctor is questioning whether signing hossa for a contract that big and that long is a smart move. good question now that i think about it.......
Love the video. When the anthem pics started up I got chills.
At one point I had to pause it, and it stopped on a "stunned" picture that I took. Talk about stunned.
Starkey's a joke. If in a couple years something's got to give, it won't be the world-class 23-24YO center.
Oh, but two world-class centers NEVER works, right? I mean, remember how much Ronnie took away from Mar...hey, wait a minute!
854am, and the Dockers commercial makes an appearance! CALIFORNIA SOUL!!
@Stoosh, I know I mentioned it before, but the 120 is brutal. Not in the sense that it's bad, but anything that is 20+% should at least come with a warning label printed somewhere on the bottle (even if it would have to be supertiny). The last time I tried the 120, I had to split it with 3 other people. The Railbender is the Sid of the Erie Brewing Co., as you already pointed out. I couldn't have been happier when a place down the road from me started to carry it, and they were not known for their extensive microbrew selection.
I had to watch the video 3x just to catch everything in the video, and probably still didn't see it all. Even with one of the first shots, I couldn't figure why John Stevens (who I still think looks a little too much like the manager from Dethklok was in there, but then I noticed the Charlie shirt in the background.
(oops, forgot to hit publish. Moving on....)
Mitch Alblom just took a shot at Woods about his hockey comment. Basically said that tons of people in Detroit and Pittsburgh were watching hockey, and that Osgood used part of his Cup day to spend 90 minutes with an ALS patient, which is 90x longer than any Woods interview. That aside, this Woods/knee thing is just too much. After what I watched over the last few months, they're making an issue over a tweaked knee? OMG, his quote at the podium was "if the pain hits, the pain hits", exact words. Unfuckingreal! I've watched men with broken ribs and fingers take repeated physical contact over the last few months. I watched a man with a broken nose take a frozen rubber puck to the face, only to return 20 minutes later. And he's gonna bitch about "knee pain"? Whatev.
Eldrick's performance on the back 9 = impressive
Eldrick = drama queen
Norfolk air = since Tuesday, smokier than a Cypress Hill show
Lindstrom jerseys = EPICFAIL
La Fin Du Monde = delicious
donuts = still crazy delicious
*stands and applauds*
Caputi! (God, I love that name)
Does anyone else want to run a marathon after seeing that video?
My Gary that was amazing.
whats really incredible about that article is three spots down is still the 'malkin: extension is coming' article
the pens website really needs to take it off, that just looks fucking horrible for the team
Cotton Candy guy looks an awful lot like
"Coke Here, Ice Cooold Coke!"
guy from 3 Rivers - Cripes if that's the same guy he's been selling stuff since at least as far back as '84 when I was in school up there.
I once caught "Coke Here" guy at 2:30 in the morning on Sports Center hilite snippet shagging a home run ball in deepest part of the outfield upper deck. There was no one but him in the entire upper bowl of the outfield, and they showed him pop out of an entryway and grab the ball...
@ Lady Jaye
Yes, as a matter of fact, TCCG does know he's a celebrity. I asked him.
Pensblog>(ESPN+Versucks)
GO PENS!
I was just thinking....whether tiger was joking or not about the hockey comment he made.... it be funny if Sidney said something along the lines of "Who watches golf anymore?"
random.
Wonderful video guys....I loved it.
Happy Dad's day to all the C-blog dads.
My one golfer friend pointed out the Tiger comment to me after he said it, to which I replied, "And who watches golf outside of four times a year?"
High five rachel.
I just read that article about Malkin on thin ice. It is clear that these "journalists" really would much rather be paparazzi. There has never been any indication that Malkin was anything but happy with the Pens. We never heard of any disputes nor has he made it known that he wants to be the star over Crosby. In fact, it is pretty much the reverse. He doesn't speak English well and is embaressed when he has to do it. He isn't trying to showboat, he just wants to play hockey. But these newspaper guys so badly want there to be heat in the locker room that they will reach for anything to write about.
Look, the Pens and the NHL for that matter are not the NBA. We don't have Kobe Bryants that have to be the center of attention and have heat with other players on their own team. They don't air their dirty laundry to the media to get their point across. The men in the NHL are MEN. Most of them handle issues like men, face to face.
It is no wonder why the media hates hockey. They have no shit to talk about. How about talking about the damn game dicks?
Know this... THE PENGUINS ARE NOT GOING TO TRADE MALKIN. So S...T...F..U..!!!!!!!
Oh and for those of you scoring at home, it's sunny here in the Seattle area for the 2nd day in a row! I think I feel light headed
Thank Gary because no sun and no hockey make TheChica something something.
And yes Eldrick is still a big pussy and donuts are always crazy delicious.
Sup cblog? My man and I will be at the Beehive tonight around 8 if any of yinz want to meet up. Fuck I'm so glad to be back in the Burgh.
interesting site, discussing some of the FA's:
http://www.theinsideronpittsburghsports.com/
i'm a better person after watching that video.
@usnbarton: It might have been me, are you talking about the left side according to the wristbands or left side of the pit looking at the stage? My wristbands said left side (which is based on the view from the stage) ... my friend wasn't beside me, though because it was impossible to find space, but we both ended up leaning on the railing. I screamed it only once and he laughed so ...
@stilly: I was prepping for the concert and getting my haircut. I couldn't go on c-blog. But it's sad that someone knew I was gonna say something ... bigmouthblog.
Carroll
I wouldn't quickly believe rumors spread around by someone who doesn't even know how to spell the players' names correctly. haha Whether they are true or not, the credibility is at a 2 or less out of a possible 10. I love when people say they have "insiders." It is an empty word.
Don't read the site that Carroll posted. That site is the old Buzz On the Turd, they just renamed it because everyone called it out for the joke it was last year because it said the Pens were definitely going to sign Paul Kariya and Scott Hanaan.
@IHK
Left as your looking at the stage from the audience. Pretty much underneath the left pirate chick banner. I hadn't even realized the wristbands said anything...
Here are my favorite quotes from that site just from the front page:
"Upfront Adam Hall or Jarko Ruutu are good candidates to be healthy scratches and Georges Laraque may return to the lineup but it's unclear about what changes Therrien has up his sleeve."
"Signing Hossa most likely means Ryan Malone, Brooks Orpik and Jarko Ruutu will not be back but how anyone blame ownership not wanting to see a player like Tyler Kennedy on Crosby's line next season."
"I've been hearing mixed signals on Jarko Ruutu as to whether he is a priority for the Penguins. There has been speculation for a while that Jarko would like to play with his brother before his career is over."
I basically just ctrl+F'd "Jarko," and everything about him was a doozy. The brother thing made me laugh a lot. I love the ambiguity and random assessments of situations. I think Pierre McGuire is his #1 insider.
@USNBarton: No, I was on the other side, then. Good concert, though, huh?
I hate the off-season.
@IHK
concertblog. Killer concert. We started at 10am. What a long, soggy day.
I hate the off season. Way lame.
@USNBarton: Yeah, the weather was evil and look it's a sunny day today ... weather = jobber.
check out #30
O RLY? :)
that video put the biggest smile on my face. since the cup was awarded on mellon ice. i've been in ireland for two weeks now studying abroad with duquesne law school and had to endure watching the games online and wearing my jersey out in a non-hockey playing country getting the weirdest looks ever. lol. great job staff if you get to see this. i relied heavily upon everything you guys did being so far from pittsburgh so thanks again. always the best entertainment on the web.
as they say over here, cheers,
-Rob
dappie99
Referees Rob Shick and Mick "Don't call me mister magoo" McGeough are retiring. Not sure if it's effective immediately or after the season.
Going by the logic of "If you remember the ref's name, then he screwed up somewhere", I never had any problems with Shick calling a game. Magoo...err, McGeough couldn't leave the game quick enough. Now can we possibly get Kerry Hairspray to retire?
Your link, please enjoy
the free candy pics ALWAYS make me laugh.
i love the "elmo killin' himself" pic too
Shick's actually a good ref
Lame. The first Incredible Malk picture didn't make the cut.
Still wicked bad ass though.
@ IHK
Belatedblog. Just realized that the weather jobbed us something fierce. I tailgated in the rain for five hours before getting into the concert and then it wants to be way sunny today? whatev.
great work. once again
