If someone has to tell you how huge this game is...
You don't deserve genitalia.
We hope everyone is ready for these next ten games.
Because it is all business from here on out.

Philly gets a point in a 3-2 overtime loss to Boston yesterday.
Basically they are playing for their playoff lives.
Everyone is playing for their playoff lives.

Ducks = 9 regular-season games remaining.

Colin Campbell said in a statement.

Rewind to Chris Simon's suspension:
“While it was fortunate there was no serious injury to Mr. Ruutu as a result of Simon’s action, the deliberate act of kicking an opponent with an exposed skate blade, especially where the opponent is in a vulnerable position, is and always has been a repugnant and totally unacceptable act in the game of hockey. "
“In addition, while the act itself was extremely dangerous, the fact that this is the eighth incident requiring the imposition of supplementary discipline on Simon compelled me to impose a very severe penalty in this case.”
Wow.
By the way, this was Pronger's 8th suspension of his career, too.
Giving him 9 games would've made it a little too obvious
that the NHL wants the Ducks together in time for the playoffs.
Both people stomped on another player with their skate.
This is like the prosecution entering a temporary-insanity plea for the defendant.
We're not saying we're on Chris Simon's side.
He should have been kicked out of the NHL for the baseball swing at Ryan Hollweg's face last season.
Sadly, this will be the last anyone's gonna hear of this suspension...
until Pronger gets suspended for the ninth time when he does something stupid in this year's playoffs.

During the Canadiens' recent West-Coast swing, a couple of the teams requested the Habs bring their red jerseys along, since they're just awesome.
We've missed seeing the red Canadiens jersey at Mellon Arena.

Has anyone noticed that Pensblog Charlie looks a lot like Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?
Whether you like or hate it, you better learn to love it because Hossa is the best thing goin today. WOOOOOOOOOOOO
/Slick Ric'd
First off...
HOSSA. Can't wait! Nothing will make me happier than to see Hossa return at home and help absolutely break this Philly team in front of a Pittsburgh crowd.
Second, how awesome is Roberts for posing for the camera like that. Like Ashley said in the other thread, I'd actually contemplate letting someone take a picture of Roberts punching me in the face as long as I could be fairly certain that I was going to survive the onslaught.
Finally, me = humbled.
Awesome, awesome job.
Can't Wait For Today. Only One Thing To Say In A Time Like This "HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Go Pens!
Goin to the game. Too excited for words.
Fuck Philly.
HOSSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
WHooooo. Lets Go Go Go. I have been working in the Philly area a lot..I need this win so I can wear my Pens gear AND laugh at any jobbers that give me a haed time for it!
Oh almost forgot this, text exchange between me and a friend yesterday...
him: I just rode in an elevator with Sidney Crosby.
me: where at? u say anything?
him: in the elevator at our hotel. I was drunk and he was in a tux. I shook his hand and said hey sid and he said how ya doin
Haha, Sid big pimpin on St. Patty's weekend. Gotta love it.
Roberts looking to return March 27? Fucking stud.
I was all jacked to be home in Pitt this weekend, but kinda forget it was nationally televised. Whatev. Good to be around fellow Pens fans for a change. I mean, minus the Caps game last week of course ;o)
Go Pens.
still hungover from the green beer last night...and i'm up and leaving for the game in less than an hour!! nothing like the Pens and more beer to get rid of a hangover
HOSSA. i don't know how i'm going to handle my excitement at seeing him live.
GO PENS!!!!
Does Stoosh look a little like Don Cherry?
The Flyers will find out who Marian Hossa is today.
HOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!
Hmmm...big decision to make...me going to the pub to try to help my floor win a competition between the residences and ultimately win a huge ass free party at the pub...or watch the game.
Game it is.
Hossa!!!!!! Wooooooooooo!!!!!!
And since I am not special enough to be punched in the face by Gary Roberts, I shall have to resort to photoshopping myself into that photo.
Stoosh does look like Don Cherry, or at least the image on the shirt does(no offense stoosh). Off topic but I wonder how many women at the Cystic Fibrosis event are now carrying the love children of Gary Roberts and the USS Hal Gill?
Fuck the Flyers
Let's Go Pens!
@ryan...
here's where Sid was, all dressed up:
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will be honored at the Pittsburgh American Ireland Fund Dinner Gala at Heinz Field on Saturday, March 15. Mr. Crosby will receive the AIF Chairman's Award, which recognizes exceptional leadership in community and charitable activities. Daniel M. Rooney, chairman of the Pittsburgh Steelers and David Morehouse, president of the Pittsburgh Penguins will serve as dinner chairmen for the event. The 'green tie and tux' dinner will be held at Heinz Field East Club Lounge. A cocktail reception is planned for 6:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7:30 p.m.
[Hossa: 'This goes out to all my freaks..Big Poppa Pump is your hook-up..holla if ya hear me!']
We're pretty sure our announcers were a scosh wasted.
"I don't condone this kind of play."-Chris "I've been suspended 500 times" Pronger.
I soooo don't look that mime by the way :)
Love the work, Pensblog. Hockey Blog In Canada salutes you for your work!
In any case, the reason I'm here is to let you know that Coin Campbell is actually a stiff in the New York City NHL Offices, not Toronto. He doesn't deserve to be anywhere near the Hall of Fame with that jobber suspension call.
I'm almost certain that Pronger has incriminating photos of everyone at the NHL Head Offices. He's clearly one of the worst offenders, yet never gets punished.
I want to see Simon absolutely crush his skull if the Wild and Ducks meet in the playoffs. Maybe then Pronger will have something to cry about. And someone needs to fix his dental work. His gap-toothed smile makes him all the more redneck.
I'll be back after the game. :o)

Can somone call or text Chris E?
Dude's starting to worry me here. Cuttin' it close.
Let's Go Pens!!!
Let's do this shit!
Survived the St. Pat's celebrations. Now back to the bar for game time.
TGIFridays on Mcknight Road, if anyone is interested.
Malkin with the Big 4-0.
Biron=joke.
I've given up on Game Day Chat.

I said it once, I'll say it again. Malsykalone.
Is it just me, or are they letting crowd noise drown out the announcing crew during stoppages? Not that I have any problems with that....
about the Simon/Pronger suspension situation, I totally agree that Pronger should have gotten more, atleast extending into the Playoffs, but theres on big fact that everyone seems to be overlooking: The Pronger incident occured during play, Simon did it during a stoppage. I believe that this was a big factor when handing down the suspension.
Malkin almsot got Zedniked by Richards.
anyone see richards try to INTENTIONALLY kick geno in the face? absolutely disgusting. it was the most despicable play i've seen all year. he should have been ejected and suspended. just disgusting.
The world was almost ended by Richards.
Time to unleash the USS Hal Gill on him.
Hossa.
That Mike Richards thing on Malkin could have been baaaaaaad
Biron = Early Shower.
Anyone see Pensblog Charlie?...he can wash his back.
4-1!!!

This just in...Philly has remembered how much they suck. Oh, and by the way: Hossa!!!
just remember guys, they won 8-2 in december. they wouldn't let us live that down. too bad it's an 82 game season. stupid flyers.
GO HOME FLYERS!!!!!!!!
Amber Alert: Danielle Briere
changing goalies to lake titicaca... do they have a third goalie?
Yesterday was the St. Patrick's Day weekend celebration in my town.
I returned home about 2AM, drunk on beer and Strongbow cider to find my 10 Greatest Penguins Games DVDs had arrived. I passed out to game 1 of the 1992 Stanley Cup Finals.
It was a good night.
Now, feeling pretty good I get to witness the destruction of the Flyers (currently 6-1.)
Malkin 4 points, Sykora 4 points.
Even better times.
Let's Go Pens.
GO HOME, FLYERS!
This is what life is all about.
@osheak: A stomp is a stomp is a stomp. It doesn't matter when it happens, and it looks worse when you're looking down at the guy's leg.
The entire Philadelphia Failures organization is a damn joke.
Living on the Eastern side of the state you saw a TON of people with Flyers stuff on. It's nice to look at them and say..
SUCK IT LOSERS!!!!
GET THE CHILI GOAL!
The USS Hal Gil drops anchor!
wow....stunned.....7-1 over the philthy jokes!!
USS HAL GILL!!
u can feel the playoffs and if philly makes it in they will be 4 and done.
all yuns who dis'd USS Hal Gill on Trade Deadline Day & the days after that.....
suck it!
Hey do any of you remember when the Failures were making a run at the Atlantic Division lead? Me neither.
Woooooooo!
I was dissing Gill on trade deadline day.
Me = owned.
GO PENS!!!
(btw. someone on the flyers message board predicted the Pens to win by a touchdown. Good call!)
HOSSA~!
USS HAL GILL~!
Malkin within two of Ovechjoke.
Greatest. Game. Ever.
Continuing the Hal Gill love. Today:
1 Goal
1 Assist
+3
Anchors aweigh!
Anyone else afraid to play the Flyers anymore? I don't think so Joel.
When the USS Hal Gill scores, things are really going right.
WHAT A WIN!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Suicideblog is in full effect on the Flyers boards, I love it!!
Coffeytalk... that's funny. I work at that particular Friday's. I didn't realize cbloggers convened at that particular Friday's for game time. Makes me feel a bit better when I'm stuck in the kitchen during game time.
So glad I was able to watch the game this afternoon. Perfect start to my three days off.
Go Home Failures!
Hossa.
I can't stress enough how great this game was:
Biron gets yanked
Umberger goes down.
Hossa puck-handles in a phone booth.
This Gill-Letang defensive line is unstoppable.
Dupuis flying about like he has ACME rocket skates. Except that they don't launch him into a mountain.
Okay, last annoying comment before I get up and do what I gotta do today:
How awesome was Braydon Coburn getting owned and taking out his own goalie and giving a wide open net?
Next Flyers-Pens game when Georges is back, he needs to end Richards' life. We know the NHL won't do shit about what was obviously an intentional kick.
Duggan comes up huge again.
14 goals in 2 games....unreal.
Dupuis was the most determined player on the ice today, well besides Malkin, but he takes the cake every game.
The Flyers still have a goaltending problem, Biron is not the solution.
Too bad NBC is on Tiger Wood's nuts so we can't see what OVugly does today.
How great is it going to be to play the Flyers again with Sid and Gary Roberts in the lineup.
Can anyone find a picture of Pierre MacGuire behind the bench for the Pens?
Hmmmm let's check the stats of our trade deadline acquisitions:
Hal Gill: 1 goal, 1 assist
Pascal Dupuis: 3 assists
Marian Hossa: 1 goal, 1 assist
Not too bad, if I do say so myself.
@biff:
I agree that Richards deliberately tried to kick Malkin with his skate.
Malkin's turned out to be a great leader when he knows teammates need goals (like giving an empty netter to Staal and knowing Syko never had an HT). Gotta love a player like that.
Pronger: has photos of Colin Campbell showering with Pensblog Charlie
Props to Pitt for their win -vs- Georgetown
So Flyers fans are whining that the Pens ran up the score on them.
Then, when one of their own points out how they did it to the Pens earlier in the season, they say the difference is that they don't whine about it like Pens fans do.
Huh????
wow. just wow. i'm stunned from the awesomeness from that game!!!
HOOOOSSSAAAAA!!!!!!
youtube on the richards kicking malkin thing for those of us who were at the game??? i missed it live.
props to the dude who was rocking the WWGRD? wristband on the jumbotron
If Richards ever to kick Gary Roberts in the neck his skate would immediately self destruct out of fear.
What a St. Patty's weekend. Got loaded and woke up in time to see the Penguins kick some ass. This team looks almost unbeatable, and that's without Crosby.
And props to the beast of the east Pitt Panthers.
HOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
What's Hacksaw's record?
can i nominate him for flashblog?
just looking at the gameday threads:
Game Result Score
72 win 7-1
70 win 4-2
69 loss 2-5
67 win 3-2
3-1 16-10
Is it wrong to say that this team plays better without Crosby???
It hurt to type it, but the question has to be asked...
yes it is
I can't say for sure but I thought I noticed at least two more high skates after Malkin's chin got clipped. And I want to say it was Richards on both of those as well.
I'm gonna be the only one to complain in this blog.
Found out I had drill this weekend and might miss the game, so what did I do? Bought an HD antenna for the laptop so I could catch the game during the afternoon training classes (look concerned at the instructor, focus on laptop monitor.) Because one guy forgot to take his advancement test last month, guess who got fucking jobbed into attending some leadership class? Yeah, me. We did have a few :15 breaks, which I'd check the laptop for updates. Out of the two breaks, I got one set of commercials, and another one that showed the Pens up 5-1 after 2. Disappointmentblog, fucking disappointmentblog.
Guess I'll be stuck watching highlights instead of 60 minutes of Philly abuse.
Hossa.
J.S., you're the only one with a valid reason to complain, anyway.
Re: Sid
For cryin' out loud. "This team" was on a pretty damn good run before Sid got hurt. After exceeding expectations in his absence, "this team" started to tire, blowing two games against Ottawa and losing to traptastic San Jose and (badly) to Boston. Malkin's ridiculous point production dropped off before his parents even returned to Russia.
Still tired, they won two games of the three after Sid returned - games where his presence was key. Losing Sid again but gaining five days of rest, they dominated two teams that have struggled in the face of their own laundry lists of injuries.
From Dec. 15, they're 26-10-5. Thirteen wins with Sid, thirteen wins without him.
There's a place for people who look for things to worry about.
Did anyone else think it sounded like (I don't know if it was just Doc or not) the broadcast team was trying to needle Edzo when he actually hadn't mentioned coaching the Penguins for a change?
Bringing up Fleury's early handling, mentioning that Malone barely made our storied '03-04 team...
If they weren't trying to be jerks, it was still funny.
Mike Emrick wasn't in Sudden Death. Period.
Haby Stani Particks Day you Phiyll sons-a-btihces! Free Grene Beer for all Pegnuin Fans at Dan Posthass Huose now!!!!!!!!

Ugh.
I feel your pain J.S.
I had watch 0000-0800 the morning/night before the Super Bowl when the Stillers won it. I was stationed in Japan so the game was on at like 7am. Exhaustionblog. I don't even remember watching it.
Thanks for your service though.
At least we won right?
Boston/Crapitals going to the shootout.
Ovenchicken held pointless.
BWAHAHAHAHAHAH!
Ovechjoke-99 points
Malkin-97 points
ArtRossblog
ovie went pointless
what a day
Also, Malkin has a game in hand on AO
and ottawa lost 5-1 to the hurricanes. nice to get a little breathing room there.
Unfortunately, I couldn't watch the game due to mentally challenged blackout rules or golf... or whatever. I'll send my BFF's at the boro to swing by Pensblog HQ and give you guys a high five.
Party.
The USS Hal Gill=living legend...nothing more needs to be said
I agree with Turk...suck it people that dissed Gill at the trade deadline. Gill has turned into a offensive-defenseman.
I think it's the right move having him throw pucks at the net. He got a goal today and has set up a few goals since we've had him.
Also, when that douche hit Letang after the play, USS Gill dropped anchor on that guy and almost destroyed him/ I thought he was going to shake the shit outta him.
And you guys see how good Hossa is on the backcheck?
J.S., I feel your pain buddy. After the game against the Sabres, I looked forward to Sunday afternoon, because we had a three day drill, friday to sunday up at the 9/11th. Three days of Pre-Hospital Trauma Lifesaving classes from 7 in the morning till 5 at night. Then it looked like we were going to finish early today, but we have to go back to the reserve center for PT. Then I remembered what VCR's are good for, so I avoided all media mentionings of it and just got done with the viewing.
The game could not possibly have been better. After this season I wouldn't be surprised to see little Malkins running around in a few years, due to his stud status and burgeoning grasp of simple English.
And holy shit I first saw what Richards did with his skate and rewound it like 5 times. Then watched all the replays. Momentum is one thing, but to hyperextend the hip like he did is not a part of falling naturally. What a classless move, in light of the accidents involving skates this year.
And how many times do I have to say it to u jobbers that questioned Shero's trade deadline acquisitions. In Shero We Trust...
Yeah, both USS and Malone did a great job of having their guys backs. USS was on that jobber with a 1/10 of a second after he hit legame.
kudos to the Mellon Arena Ice crew who are probably all sleeping right now after 72 hours of ultimate chaos:
Friday:
• preachers' stage goes up
• preachers' stage goes down
Saturday:
• JBJ stage goes up
• JBJ stage goes down
Sunday:
• get ice ready for an NHL hockey game -- THAT STARTS AT NOON !!!!
after all that, the surface didn't look all that bad...looked like the puck was bouncing a bit & may have cost Geno a good shot on his breakaway late in the 3rd
maybe they're not sleeping yet as there is a Celtic Woman concert Monday night
OT pay is gonna be sweeeet for those guys
USS Hal Gill:
• 1 goal
• 1 assist
• +3
• 4 Shots
• 3 Hits
• 5 Blocked Shots
[Hossa: hears a who]
I guess I shouldn't complain too much. I mean I'm definitely glad the Pens won, but I wish I could've seen at least part of the game, esp after reading c-blog today. At least I know that there won't be any more screwings with only 10 games left.
They were baiting Edzo? Nice. I remember there were a few of us in gamedaychat taking bet on Edzo's first mention of "Back when I used to coach...." At first, I didn't mind his occasional burst of him coaching here, but when he does it over and over and over and...you get the idea, it's like "Shut the fuck up." Kinda like the guy who continues to talk about the girl who broke things off with him five or six years ago, but still talks as if they were still together.
@jonny v, I almost considered transferring to the 9/11th last year. Long story short: my unit decomm'ed, got transferred into odd position. Right now it's a matter of waiting for paperwork before I can make my next move.
pickle stabber...
http://youtube.com/watch?v=GjxOt2u2BGM
Thoughts, dudes...
1. What a game! I love laughers like this, even more when Philly is on the business end of it.
2. What an unbelievable job by Shero putting this crew together. The Sykora signing is looking like absolute genius. USS Hal Gill has looked better and better every game. Getting Dupuis back in the ATL trade was clutch because he's brought overall better play to that role than Army was bringing. He cut ties with Recchi when it became clear that Rex wasn't working out (I still believe that while the team had a lot of respect for Rex, it's not small coincidence that they started to put it together after Recchi left). And Hossa...wow...great game and I actually thought he looked tentative today.
3. RunningUpTheScoreBlog - I don't have a problem with what the Pens did today. Why?
a) Karma's a bitch. Flyers fans weren't complaining when they were kicking our ass earlier in the season.
b) What are the Pens supposed to do when the other team doesn't want to compete? The game was a blowout with seven or eight minutes remaining in the second period. With that much time left, you can only skate and pass the puck around so much. And if the Pens players are throwing it at the net and Philly's defense/goaltending are leaving second chances right there, what are the Pens supposed to do? Purposely miss the net? These guys are professionals.
c) They had both Geno and Sykora looking for HT's at the end. Get them their points.
d) The Pens are gearing up for the postseason and they need to be clicking on all cylinders. If that comes at the expense of a Philly team that doesn't want to show up and compete, so be it.
4. What in the hell was the segment with Milbury pretending to be Stevens and going on that mock tirade? Is Milbury trying to be Lou Holtz on College Football Gameday or something. Milbury's already ruined two franchises and he's probably the only guy who could butcher the playoff chances of the Flyers more than Stevens already has. Then again, maybe that's not such a bad idea.
5. Had to drive to Erie today for my youngest sister's birthday. We left the house around 11:00 or so, caught the first two goals of the game on WXDX and then missed the rest of the first period. Why? Because jackass me forgot the XM receiver at home.
6. Wanna talk stunned? I walk into my mom and dad's house in Erie this morning, and the first thing most of my family says is "Commit to the Stoosh". My entire family is aware of the t-shirts - and I mean parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins...and my grandma. My parents love the website...my dad's already visited a few times.
Me = Absolutely stunned.
FLYER HATER - The Don Cherry thing was funny because the picture does look a little like Grapes.
And I don't take offense to that. I think Cherry is entertaining as all hell. I disagree with some things he says, but I consider myself a fan of his.
Brief backstory on the t-shirt photo...
That's a picture of me sitting in the Grand Lux Cafe at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas in November of 2005 enjoying a margarita.
Stoosh, to add to your comments, Therrien did what he could to reign it in after things got crazy....namely, playing the guys who aren't likely to score, like Hal Gi...oops, oh well. (And is Gill scoring not the epitome of a karmic bitch-slap? Yeah, even our big, slow stay-at-home D-man is gonna put one in on you, because you deserve it that bad.)
How about the Kicksave photoshop? That shit looks completely real. Kicksave = Photoshop Maestro
Pensgirl - I was thinking the EXACT same thing. I've been saying all day, "You know things are bad when Hal Gill has 2 points against you."
jebus- I go to Fridays for most Pens games ( at least the away ones and the ones i don't have tickets too) . Will probably be there for Tuesday's game. I'm good friends with TGIRandy.
I like this blog, good luck ..! also visit hotel in bandung or nikon digital camera cases
