The Panthers spend most of the season in the basement playing with those rats from the 1996 Eastern Conference Finals, and then they go nuts at the end of the year.
But it's always too little, too late.
Their goalie, Craig Anderson, has made 93 saves in his last two performances.
Both were shutouts.
He is either going to play out of his mind, or the Penguins are going to demolish his life.

at least Lemieux could've been spelled correctly on the Bibbs Bigno Card...

I'm fearing the florida announcing team.
Tampa Bay's was nearly unbearable, Panthers can only be worse.
What's the over under for a Pitt grad calling out the mispelling on the bingo card?
Lemuix? Seriously?

The Bob Errey bingo game is as life affirming something can get and still be of this universe.
Solid as titanium!
Don't blame PSU, they can't help it they spend more money on keeping Jo Pa alive then they do on education. These are the same people who could lose every college football game and claim to be #1 in the college world.
Penn State = Fantasy Island University.
My memory may be a little bit hazy, but didn't Guy Junker solicit some transsexual prostitute a few years ago!?
Anyway...go Pens!!
cripplr, don't turn this into a college bashing. We're Pens fans, bash the flyers.
As a PSU alum though, I am a bit embarassed by the misspellings. Come on dude...
Bob Errey Here,
I have to get to the arena soon. But let me just tell you that I had a blast at sea world today. I'll fill you in on the details this weekend.

Let's Go Pens!!!
Being a current PSU student, I feel like cripplr might be on target with his evaluation of the PSU budgeting flaws considering currently we cant drink any water any where close to campus because its infected.
I think JoePa must've crapped himself near a the water treatment center or something.
Go PENS!!!
Trying out the streaming video tonight of the game!!!! Oh how I hope this works!!!!!!! Might try the video and see if Pens.com radio can keep up or how much of a delay so I don't have to hear Florida announcers... :)
GO PENS

Hey guys, Steigy checking in from BankAtlantic Center's internet kiosk.
Was just checking out my online thesaraus, looking for a couple goodies for tonight's broadcast.
Well, I have to head down to sign some autographs for the guests in section B12, all the way from Sunny Side Nursing Home (they're huge Steigerwald supporters).
My player to watch tonight is Tyler Kennedy. Anytime you have a Tiger going up against a Panther, it always makes for some great entertainment. Let's Go Penguins.

wow, fakesteigy = unreal.
remember though, Tyler is just a "little tiger"

We gotta make sure to be good at the blueline tonight
Staff, where do I send the beer if you can finagle that commercial?
I lived for that ad. I love Lifehouse, and "hello it's me Martin" was my favorite Pen after Artie (he's now slipped to 3rd all-time behind Sid, but still...).
Tonight we root for the Mr. Smiths. Let's get this Anderson joke!
Can we get a shout out for the Wingman commercial during the 2002-03 playoffs? Amazing.
"He is either going to play out of his mind, or the Penguins are going to demolish his life."
I laughed for like 5 minutes.
Where are the Panthers' fans? The arena sounds empty after the goal scorers are announced.
Matlockblog.
This is is not good...let me pose a question, when was the last time the pens played a great, lights out game where they were dominant? A great team should be able to handle the panthers, but here we are down 2
Fleury sucks, trade him to the Kings for J.S. "fluke goal" Aubin.
I knew we were going to have a hard time getting up for this game. Game in South FLA against a crap team with almost no buzz in the building right before a huge nationally televised game. We still have a good chance at winning this game imo.
so ummm do the pens want to like play D and keep the puck out of our zone or are we gonna let the panthers skate all over us?
In the spirit of Pensblog, some new Fedko pranks: http://youtube.com/user/pittpanther412 Keep 'em coming guys!
It's Conk Block time, bitches!
Hal Gill...defensive savior, or poor mans Derian Hatcher?
Ryan Whitney needs to sit...for awhile
OHHHH MYYYYYYY some one needs to sit the WHOLE team and ummmmm say something like Defense or maybe passing or maybe Hey there is a game going on here! Get the sand out of their ears down there in FL
hows bout sitting LeRock...two passes to his RW position...two times he whiffs & the Cats keep the puck in & score....
hey, Georges....keep your ass on the boards OR stay closer than 2 strides away [5 feet, in your case]
lay off those Royale with Cheese...it's slowed ya down a bit

Anyone else notice that when the pens scored, it was one of the few times I heard the crowd cheer?
There are about 200 fans at this game
LOL, how the hell wasn't that a penalty on Gill?
The playoffs are going to look like the 1998 Royal Rumble.
half are pens fans
@sakic19
Beat me to it...I was just signing on it say it
Is it just me or has Geno disappeared these past few games? (probably just me, no need to answer)
can't mess with the USS hal gill baby!
The USS Hal Gill doesn't skate slow...he skates calm
He hasn't been the same for about 5 or 6 games...and its not sids return, maybe just slowing down, he played out of this world for a long time and emotion runs out
Genos golden locks have been cut...he's done for the year
[Hossa 03.09.08]
The USS Hal Gill doesn't skate slow...he skates calm
Genius.
If we are gonna win the cup this year it's gonna be the legs of the USS Hal Gill that carries us there...
Thanks raybin
The playoffs are going to look like the 1998 Royal Rumble.
1998?
The playoffs are gonna be so out of control it'll be like the 1992 Rumble, with the Penguins starring as Ric Flair.
wooooooo...space mountain baby...wooooooo
Toronto is taking Boston to the cleaners. They chased Thomas and are now killing Auld.
Philly and Tampa tied at 2.
cape? does Steiggy sound turned on talking about that stupid cape?
ok third period. Lets do this!
Wow now we have the call for Conklin. Let us not forget that MAF did win 40 games last season. 3 goals in the first period? Let me get jobbed some more over this. GO MAF GO to another team.
As for Penn State, I decided to go to Notre Dame over the State Penn.
MAF is OVERRATED.
Whitney still sucks
I'm really tired of the bumbly BGL.
Letang woke me up though when I heard him scream "Fuck off" after his tripping penalty.
Game over
gross
MAF = overrated.
Also, MAF didn't win 40 games last year, the TEAM won 40 games last year. MAF has still yet to prove that he is the "number 1" goalie.
bring on the Craps....
Pens aren't making the playoffs
"MAF didn't win 40 games last year, the TEAM won 40 games last year"
Do us all a favor, and never tune in to another Penguins broadcast again.
Please, Therrien, I'm begging you, make Whitney and Sydor go away. At least one of them...I'm sure Goligoski would love to be recalled.
I have a Laraque shirt, so it pains me to say this, but the man is rapidly becoming naught but dead weight.
MAF is not overrated. He had a crappy period. It happens.
I forget who said here some games back, but it bears repeating: I'm sick of every shitty goalie suddenly looking like Grant Fuhr in his prime.
Kari Lehtonen, Mike Smith and now Craig Anderson
Seriously hockey gods, wtf?
no, it was me. i won 40 games last year.
@j.s.22
so...by your logic, Conklin DOESN'T have 17 wins this season, the TEAM does?....I don't understand?
how about MAF didn't suck tonight...the TEAM sucked tonight
Did Shero EVER answer the defense question? I only saw 2 new d-men in the way of old man river #2 Sydor and someone whose been in the league for like 15 years in Hal gill. To get through in the play offs you need DEFENSE and a GOALTENDING. Pens have no defense and 1 goaltender and a sieve.
Great job getting behind MAF
of course I mean "Who said it here" not just "who said here"
Do claim credit though if you were the first one to say it (I think after the Ottawa comeback game) because it made me chuckle.
laraque is looking more like a liability to the team everyday.
Play Conk.
I've said it once I'll say it again...
MAF may have won 40 games which means that the offense scored more goals then HE GAVE UP!
Marc-Andre Sieve
This just isn't a stanley cup team yet...not this year...Crosby and co. getting outshot every night...wtf?, the skill players on this team?...the great players want the puck to score goals, not to set up pascal dupuis...has anyone told this team that too many passes = not enough goals...many will say wait until Hossa plays with sid, but this team has lost something, and has not been dominant in some time...it is great to call them "cardiac kids" because of their ability to comeback in games, but it will be greater when they can beat up a team and actually put them away...losing to Florida, and the way they have played for the last few weeks...unacceptableblog
Hey now. Let's get off of Fleury's back already. Two of those goals can be directly attributed to Brooks Orpik being a complete waste of life in front of the net. This game was not Fleury's fault in the least. It was the defense that didn't show up. And also, wow how many times can one man miss a wide open net? I'm talking to you, Whitney. What the hell do we pay you for if it's not scoring when those chances come up.
I wasn't thrilled when we aquired Laraque last year. I gave him a chance and by the end of the season he still didn't prove much worth to the team. This year he seemed to pick up the pace a little bit and had played some solid games. But here we are again, close to the play offs and he looks big and slow and as useless as ever. I don't think we need him as a "fighter". Malone will fight, Ruutu will battle, Talbot will throw down and hell, even JFK has gotten a taste. I think it's time for him to sit out a few and to bring up some young Dunder Mifflin blood.
Who would've thought that at this point the Hal Gill acquisition would turn out to be the best part of trade deadline day?
I would...Hal Gill is the reincarnation of Bobby Orr's bad knees...seriously next to Malone he was the best player on the ice tonight and just what this team needs in the corners and in front of the net...sit Sydor and Whitney...Sydor gets his ass beaten every night, and Whitney...well anyone who watched this game knows what I am talking about
Someone needs to make a video of Hal Gills speediest plays and have it set to the music of the Village People's In The Navy
good riddance to florida and their terrible teams.
This is no big deal.
Team needs to be energized and motivated, that's Therrien's job.
Just wait until Sunday.
They just wanted to get out of Florida asap.
This could be a big deal...this team has not been playing well for weeks...game against the craps is HUGE...win and all is forgotten, lose and we have a major problem
Maybe Fleury's inconsistent because of the 04 Juniors.
Doesn't he take Steve Smith-in-Edmonton type levels of cowshit up there for his gaffe in that game?
Yeah, I'm sure that's why he's lights out one game, then blows huge saves the next.
I shall get drunk now. Because the Pens might get outshot on the ice, but there's not way I'm getting outshot at the bar..... Jager's on me.
CRIPLLR44 - Most goalies who win that many games play behind teams who score more goals than they allow. Basicsofhockeyblog.
Look, I understand you're no fan of Fleury. But two of the goals tonight were the result of shoddy defensive play by Whitney. Whitney is quickly approaching Hans Jonsson levels of ineptitude in the defensive zone at times this year, and it's happening more often than not.
I'm not going to blame Fleury for a goal when Ryan Whitney allows himself to get worked over by Rostislav F'ing Olesz. I'm also not going to blame the goaltending for giving up a goal when Whitney chases someone into the one corner, the puck goes back to the opposite side of the rink and Whitney takes his sweet time getting back to the front of the net while Jeff Taffe is left to cover the slot AND the far post. I think Conklin gave up that goal, but the point remains this...
Certain defensemen are leaving the goaltending out to dry. It's not all of them, and it's nothing that Shero could've addressed any better than what he did. It's a simple matter of some guys on this team - namely Whitney and Sydor - rededicating themselves towards focusing on his responsibilities.
I'm still talking about a defenseman who's only playing his second full season at this level right now, but Whitney needs to focus on what he's doing. And I get the impression that once Scuderi comes back, Sydor may actually be the one to sit. He looks tired at times.
Gill was solid tonight. Letang was solid. Gonchar wasn't bad, and I didn't think Orpik played a particularly bad game either.
For the longest time, I wondered about a particular photo on the Pens giveaway calendar. I wondered who this guy was featured for the month of December. I asked a few friends, some family members and even looked at team photos on the pens website. Who is this mystery man for the month of December? Was he maybe a trainer or possibly an equipment manager?
nope.
it was darryl sydor.
I agree stoosh, seven or eight years ago, Sydor would have been ideal, now he is a mere shadow of himself
I'm rapidly becoming very enamored of the Gill-Letang defense.
When Scuds is healthy, my dreams are:
Gonchar-Scuderi
Gill-Letang
Goligoski-Orpik
Of course I have a better shot at ice skating in hell someday, buy a boy can dream.
One bad game and everyone starts jumping all over the Pens like they are the Tampa Bay Lightning or the Pittsburgh Pirates. This is a playoff team that had a bad game. Shit happens. Move on. Malkin & Sid vs. A.O. and the Craps is up next. They'll be ready to play.
Since Charlie's absence the Pens have allowed these goaltenders to look like Grant Fuhr. Just an observation.
Lets go Pens
it's a slump, yes.
better now than going right into the playoffs though.
someone tell charlie his vacation has been revoked.
this has been more than one bad game...the team is trending down...a break here and there and it is an all out Detroit like slump, and now is not the time to slump
stoosh = perspectiveblog
Therrian needs to sit Whitney or something. That was just ugly to watch, not only defensively but offensively as well. I agree with everything stoosh said except for the Orpik not sucking part. I though he had an exceptionally bad game.
SAKIC19 - Sydor was a solid value pickup because he can move the puck and he's a veteran presence. Compare what he's given the Pens for the money he's making (2 years, $5 million total) versus what Colorado shelled out for Scott Hannan (4 years, $18 million total). Hannan has 17 points and he's been a minus player all year. Sydor, for all his faults, is still a +3 on the year.
When you're going to pour most of your money into your younger core, you need to balance out the rest of the depth chart with value guys like Sydor. You're not going to be able to pay your core forwards like Sid and Malkin, support them with quality talent like Hossa, Sykora and Malone (I'm still under the firm belief that they sign Hossa) AND bring in high-priced free agent defensemen to fill out the top four d-spots at the same time.
If they're going to invest significant cap money in icing two elite-level forward lines, they're going to have to try to balance out the defense as best they can.
As far as the blueline goes, the Pens are lucky that Gonchar is now a tremendous value for his deal. It may even make him expendable if they need to free up room to sign Hossa. Whitney will be a huge steal if he rounds out his game, and I think he will eventually, but he needs to start stepping it up. It also helps immensely that the Pens are getting solid contributions from a guy like Letang, who is still on his first deal, and won't need a new one until Gonch is off the books. Throw in Goligoski and they've got the offensive end of the blueline taken care of. They need to get lucky with another Scuderi type - maybe that'll be Lannon or eventually a guy like Strait or Bortuzzo.
The biggest fallacy out there is that they need to find this mythical "shutdown" defenseman via free agency. The best way to get those guys is to draft and develop them, and that seems to be what Shero's started to do.
Don't worry about it. Can't win em all.
I say F--- it. Habs aren't beating Coyotes.
Devils have the Bolts with momentum tomorrow.
trade whitney for pensblog charlie?
he just plain sucks.
offensive d's need to score!
he misses the net.
who thinks therrien is a good coach? i think he changes the lines up way too much. make lines (ones that consist of a lw, c, rw; not ones that have 2 centers and a winger) and stick with those lines. chemistry amongst the players does not happen in 1 game.
stoosh- His monetary value may be great, but sydor is no gary roberts, age is catching up with him, he is getting his ass pounded in the boards every night and just isn't the top 4 defenseman that he was a few years ago, and while he may be able to move the puck the beatings he takes every night take its toll in the long run because of his age
Remember the joke about bandwagon fans I wrote about after the trade?
Then people on here jumped on my back for making said joke.
Now much of the same people are acting like the Pens loss tonight is the end of the world.
Whatev.
Let's Go Pens!!!
This isn't the end of the world, but your blind if you can't see the pens have been slipping, not just tonight...bandwagon or not
When I say I'd love to see Fleury do well I mean it.
That said being said...doesn't anyone seem to realize that our defense looks better with Conk in the net because he takes much of the pressure off of them? They don't have to take as many hits and he gives them another way of making outlet plays.
The Defense wasn't helped much tonight by some of the forwards tonight either. Max, Dupuis, Staal, Crosby, Malone, Kennedy, and Malkin all did their best in that department as usual but others really blew it. Laraque definitely stood out as being a liability.
We had our chances though...missed wide-open nets and plenty of power plays that we wasted. But Florida's goalie came-up big and they played a pretty stifling game of keep-away, forcing us to cough up the puck when we tried to force the passes.
Puck support has been lacking in all the games we chalk up to being a slump.
@sakic19
get a grip
5-3-2 in their last 10 is no need to find the closest bridge...
with Sid coming back, the chemistry is off...with Big Poppa Pump out, I'm sure that deflated the boys balloons a bit
on the 4th Panther goal...Whitney tried to clear it TWICE up the RW boards & TWICE LaRock didn't get control of the puck
now, I'm not going claim to be an expert as I only made it to playing club hockey in college....but, as a Center, I was always told that if a d-man leaves his position to go behind the net/into a corner, it is the Centers responsibility to fill that spot where the d-man left....the behind-the-net cam showed whit in the corner trying to get back, with Sydor on Conks left & Taffe not getting back/down far enough to pick up McLean in front & Whit was too late getting back....
call me a Whitney apologist if you want, but despite his shortcomings, he's still a team top 2-3 d-man & shouldn't be the scapegoat for that goal
I'm not gonna blame MAF either...I'm blaming the TEAM for a piss-poor effort & I hope Therrien skates the hell out of them as they need some sort of wake-up call as they start playing against desperate teams to get into the top 8 or are looking to secure playoff position from here on out [only meaningless game I see as of today is 03.20.08 v. the Lightning]
[Hossa 03.09.08]
Let the bridge jumpers go. There will be less crowding on the bridge when the Pens pull out of the slump. Maybe it isn't just one game, but again, they are comfortably in a playoff spot and have plenty of time to get things together heading in to the postseason. They are still in the midst of getting injured players back and settling in to playing together at full strength. Still, I welcome all fans here. Whether some of you think they are "new" to the site or "bandwagon" fans, so be it. I don't think any fans are "better" than others. If bandwagoners give the team enough capital to bring in a free agent that they otherwise couldn't afford, do you still not want them around? I'll take all the support the team can get. Even a Pens fan that thinks MAF should get canned, Sid and Geno should get sent down since they only had one point combined tonight, and maybe we should just trade the whole team to Florida for their team since they just obviously proved that they are better as a team, is still a Pens fan and I appreciate their support. As long as Ray Shero isn't one of these people, the Pens will be fine.
dr. turkleton- you need to open your eyes...no one is jumping off a bridge, but since the 4-1 win at Buffalo, the pens have:
a 3-2 win at Florida that was won in the last moments of the game
a 5-4 win at Montreal that was won in the same fashion
a 4-3 loss to the Sens at home when we were up 3-0
a 2-1 loss against the sharks
a 4-2 win against the islanders when we gave up 53 shots
a pathetic loss to the Bruins, another loss to the sens, a win against Tampa Bay that was won in the final moments again, and tonights crap...does this seem like a dominant team, or one that is trending downward...be realistic, we are all hoping things will change and the talent is there, but am I wrong in saying that this is a bad time to slump?
They don't ask how, they ask how many. We don't have to dominate we just have to win.
Not the time to start freaking out yet peeps.
Go Pens.
The Penguins with an inconsistent defense? Do stop that broken record, it's been like that all year. There's a reason the Pens are in the bottom third in the NHL in shots allowed.
Conklin deserves/will get the start on Sunday, but you have to wonder how long MT's performance carousel will continue to go around. Is it something that we'll continue to see come April?
After Wednesday, the Pens play 10 of their last 11 against Atlantic teams. That is what these players should be preparing for, and Hossa will definitely be back by then.
Florida shut our boys down on power plays tonight. Kudos to them.
If this is Whitney's worst game of the year, it comes at a good time. The Pens are in first and he has time to refocus before the homestretch against the Atlantic.
Most importantly, now is not the time to be sulking. Now is the time to prepare to kick some Ovechkin ass on national TV. Coming out of this road trip 2-1 would be nothing to frown about.
Lets go Pens.
goalieswerehungouttodryblog
At least 3 of the goals should have never made it to "shot on goal" stage
Sunday should be fun.
Hossa.
a team that is not playing well and just winning will not do well in the playoffs...totally different season, where the stakes have been raised along with the intensity...if we play like this in the playoffs I guarentee a first round loss...I am not a bandwagoneer, nor a doomsdayer, but I am looking at this team objectively and I see more than a few holes, which can easily be corrected, I respect everyones opinion, but this is just my take
Oh yeah...Hal Gill...Norris Trophy candidate
but am I wrong in saying that this is a bad time to slump?
I would say yes, you are wrong. No time is a "good" time to have a slump, but I can't think of any other time that it is less harmful. The Pens are comfortably in a playoff spot, aren't playing division opponents, and aren't heading into the playoffs. They are still in great position in the standings, are getting healthy, and have plenty of time to straighten up for the playoffs. Remember, Sid has only been back for two games and the major deadline acquisition that got people really fired up hasn't even played a full game yet.
a team that is not playing well and just winning will not do well in the playoffs
I understand the sentiment, but I think it is great for a team to learn how to win games they have no business winning. Every good team does it. As long as they get 16 wins in the playoffs, I don't care how convincing they are! I agree that they will probably need to play better than they have the last few games, but again, there is plenty of time for that.
(I don't mean to pick on you Sakic, but you are one of the only people posting right now.)
Very soon we will be playing division opponents, and we have not played well against them this year...and the east is so close, we could conceiveably fall out of the top three...this team, with this talent, even without sid and hossa should be able to grab the bull by the horns, not lose to the Panthers, not blow 3 goal leads at home, they need a statement game, hopefully Sunday will be it...nothing could right the ship like a big win in Washington, stickin it to Ovechkin and Semem
no prob jyo...like I said I respect everyone's opinions, I just have a bad feeling right now, and I hope I am wrong...some people here think that the pens are a shoo in for the cup, and these losses mean nothing...if they play well in the next two weeks they could all but lock up first seed, that would mean the road to the cup(at least in the east) would go through Pittsburgh...that sounds better than in May having to play a series on the road against Jersey or Ottawa...then the questions about the losses that are no big deal will come up
TURK - I think your take on that play is dead-on. I might have put most of that on Whitney because it looked to me like he could've gotten back quicker than what he did. Taffe also needed to get down to cover Maclean a little quicker than what he did. Call it a split on both of them, but it happens.
Whit had a bad game, but Bobby Orr had bad games. Patrick Roy had a very infamous bad game. It happens to the best of them, so it's going to happen to Whitney and everyone else.
Plenty of blame to go around at both ends of the ice, and let's credit Florida for coming out and taking the play to the Pens tonight. Sometimes, the opposing team is just a better team on that night.
It sucks, but we move along to the next game, just as we've done all year. Already looking ahead to Sunday.
HIP - Well said. Evenkeelblog.

hmmm...didn't know Ziggy Palffy reads this blog???
Not a good night to lose though...
Montreal won, Philly won, Rangers won.
What's kind of scary is that in the pre-game interview, Therrien said they were focused!?
Florida was FOCUSED Mikey..learn the difference.
@Sakic
Totally agree with your last two posts.
I am concerned about the Pens recent play. It's been lack-luster to say the least. Sunday could very well be a "statement" game.
(on the opinion topic)
As much as I love to hear everyone's take of the games... it's disheartening to see Pens fans get all riled up one minute over a trade, acting like we're a shoe-in for the cup... to only trash talk them after a shitty loss like tonight.
Frustrationblog.
But, hey, everyone reacts differently.
Hopefully the Pens get hot late in the season (exactly like they did when they won the previous Stanley Cups) and carry the momentum into the god-awfully challenging Stanley Cup playoffs.
This game is what'd you call 'Kick in the Balls Blog'
Hey folks!
Just a few comments about tonight's contest...
Bob said I mentioned it 67 times during the game, but I don't recall so I'll say it again...David Booth is an outstanding hockey player and I want him to father my grandchildren.
Ryan Whitney looked lost tonight, his injury must be nagging him.
Well that's all I have for now, see you all on Wednesday when I have the booth all to myself. Good luck to Bobby between the benches!
Until next time,

So the pens official site message board should be on suicidewatchblog. One game, learning experience, call it whatever you want. Let MT rip them a new one, then lets go in and face Ovie on Sunday on NBC. Id rather face them after a loss like this than after we cruise through an easy victory. At least we got out of FL with 2 pts. Didnt happen the last few years. After being at the Tampa game, I got to see that we are VERY close. A couple bounces here and there, and we are up 5-0.
This just in, we are at the top of the conference, and we have this Hossa guy that is gonna start playing soon. I'm glad we can still have a little time to get this out of our system, get EVERYONE healthy, and get ready for a playoff run. If this happens in another month, then I will worry.
one more thing, everyone already knows, but stoosh knows whats up.
I love how MAF gets crucified automatically after one game where the defense did not show up tonight. The proof is watching the goal that Conk let up as well. It was the same thing. MAF let up one goal that was a decent goal.

dickhead
He's 23. what the fuck were you doing when you were 23? i bet it wasn't playing goalie in the NHL.
I'm not being Chicken Little, but when the Pens can't show up against a weak-ass team like the Panthers, how are they going to show up in the play offs? As a team, they blew ass. From goal to offense, the team was terrible. Do they have Steeleritis- the ability to play up or down to the opposition as needed? The Panthers are a joke, yet watching that game, i wasn't sure who the joke was.....

steigy did have a hard on for Booth all night long.
agreed with stokes, we definitley didn't look like a #1 team tonight.
Why doesn't Malkin shoot when he is on the ice with Sid? So many times tonight I yelled SHOOOOT when they were trying to tic-tac-toe it around and set up the perfect look at the open cage.
Malone is a beast.

Whatev. Tough loss to swallow, but this game will not be the one that keeps us out of the playoffs. The team was not focused tonight and hopefully wake up for the game on NBC Sunday. A possible Hossa return and a good USSR battle between Ovugly and Malkin.
Is the D still not agressive enough in front of the net? Is Fleury 100% yet? Is Conklin really the number 1 goalie? Will Hossa in the line up help the Penguins all around?
Some may have the answers to the questions, but the real answers will come out when we are battling for the number 1,2, or 4 seed in the East.
Oh yea, March 27th...circle the date.
i don't know if anyone posted this yet but I was way too curious not to look it up

STOKES - Dead-on post about Fleury.
If we bail on Fleury at this point, we're going to seriously regret it three or four years from now. He's developing mostly on the same track that guys like Luongo, Miller, Turco and Brodeur did. In terms of pro experience, Fleury is ahead of guys like Miller and Turco.
Guys like Fleury, Lehtonen, Cam Ward...they're all going to emerge among the league's top goaltenders once in a few years.
There are some very limited exceptions, but most goaltenders do not become elite-level goaltenders until their mid-late 20's.
Dear Pittsburgh Penguins,
Ok. You lost to cats. You're birds... makes sense. They chewed you up and spit you out. Now move on. You're playing the Capitals. YOU NEED TO WIN FOR BUFFALO'S SAKE! That would be fantastic. You see, we are only one point ahead of the Caps and three points behind the Flyers. You see my problem? It's time to stop being all buddybuddy with OvenChicken and start being mean. I know, Sid, it gives you headaches when you're mean. Just do it, like Nike. I know you're with Reebok, "you are who you are." See, Saturday we have to face the Carolinas. Yeah #3. We don't even have Marty Biron to tell Staal to stand up right. YoYo is gone. Mike Ryan is gone. Tallinder got hit by Upshall. Timmy Connolly is, as The Willful Caboose puts it, "only one concussion away from needing to hire a full-time drool wiper." And who knows when the flu or groin infections start a spreadin'. Lindy Ruff is in full on playoff coach mode. The Sabes obviously weren't listening as he was skating with them, yelling "PLAY WITH SOME F*&$#ING PASSION" because we lost 3-1. B-a-d Sabres.
See you March 12th. Don't worry, you're 10 points ahead [sigh].
Dani
P.S. Panther trainers+Buffalo Medical staff=Healthy Zednik! Woo!
