GameDay (63) -- Sharks @ Pens

3:00

Back when the schedule came out in mid-summer, you saw this game in late February and thought, "How exotic. I bet that's gonna be on NBC or some crap."

Well, it's gonna be on FSN because Crosby is injured,
and because there's some big-deal golf thing on NBC.

All we can say about this game is that a 3-0 lead will never seem safe again.

You cannot job that which you do not know, so we have nothing to say about the Sharks.

.................................................................

That's all we got

Could you imagine if we lose like 5-0 today going into the trade deadline? People will be calling for the Pens to trade everyone. Get Hossa, Sundin, Satan, Phaneuf, Jesus!!

Rumor has it the Senators are giving up a first round pick,Ray Emery, and a conditional pick for Pensblog Charlie. The conditional pick is based upon Charlie's performance in Ottawa; is expected to very passionate at first and will fade in the stretch.

Get Marty Griffin on the scene!!

Huge game, a ton to prove.

Go Pens.

Mina said...

The way the Sharks have been playing lately (despite the last game), this might be the game to help the Pens get over last night.

(Go Sharks! *sigh*)

Flyer Hater said...

Were the Sharks on a 20 minute Powerplay that period? So lucky to get out 0-0.

We better get some even up calls pornstache.

Big 3rd coming especially with Jersey just scoring to take the lead. Nabakov made a huge save at the end of the 2nd. Pens are playing solid D. I'm afraid that they may be a little tired to start the 3rd. I hope not. Caps just tied it as I write.

What, Pensblog? No jobbing of people who injure the one and only Mark Eaton? I guess I can forgive you guys for now.

I hear that Richards of Philly is going to be out longer. They were making fun of us when our players were getting hurt ... it's called karma people! (And at least we have won games ...)

Jonny V said...

Easy there, he's been behaving. Don't stir the pot.

Did anyone hear the conversation during the second period? They were talking about sweet pickles, and dill pickles (because of the Sharks' player Marc Vlasic). Then Steigy asks what would happen if Vlasic scored a pickle stabber goal. Errey simply says, "that'd be huge." They're retarded.

over.

CRUSHER!!!

Nabokov = stunned

ok steigy...shut the fuck up. no jinx today.

we want fleury.

"he hasn't scored in the shootouts"

bbbbrian said...

FUUUUUUCK!!! Same goal three times in a row. At least we got a point

Mike Georger said...

six out of eight points this week, all things considered ill take that. ruutu's goal was just absurd.

is BGL sitting on a suspension if he fights anyone or something? hes been a non factor the past few games in spots where we could have used a fight

letang = le-gimp

justincredibleh said...

ahhhhhh shit. ruutu's goal was amazing though.

chris e said...

We should have scored all 3 times...LeGame had him beat bad...

Flyer Hater said...

You count on your goalie to make at least one fucking save. I can't wait to see Fleury play on Tuesday (not saying Conklin didn't play well in regulation)

Two tough games, 2 out of 4 points on the back to back is pretty damn good. That's what most could have hoped.

"Sharks=Devils of the Western Conference"

Yes, yes they are. Certainly not what I expecting from the game, but it was entertaining enough to make me wish we played more than once a year. You guys play some exciting hockey.

Pens = Stunned

Flyer Hater said...

Just like we couldn't avoid the Ottawa series last year, it looks like we won't be able to avoid the Montreal series this year. We just have to hang on to the four seed.

I hate the fucking Devils

on yahoo nhl front page: The Penguins continued their recent success as they beat the Sharks 2-1 in a shootout at home Sunday

tards...get it right. we all wish.

wilsmith said...

I hope we do play the Habs. How awesome of a series would that be?

Johnny Wrath said...

Ron Wilson. His favorite line in DC was (remember these guys? I bet Therrien wishes he had some of them);

Ulf Dahlen Metropolit Joe Reekie
Witt Klee

I watched the Bay Area feed out here, and their guys are solid. Drew Remenda, the bald dude, was recounting that one time Cheechoo broke Eaton's arm. I was at that game, and some asinine fan threw their thunder sticks at me for being "that hella pissed dude" in the enemy's jersey.

I'm sober now, so i have to admit we're on a very good point-grabbing tear - 6/8 with no RL. Staal and Army were great, and Syko's blade is simply too wide to be fanning like that. Its like the Hoover Dam of stick blades.

We took four points from 3 of the league's' top teams, and now face a stretch with Boston and each SE division team except Carolina with Ottawa mixed in on the 1st. Check out March's schedule- we can definitely win the East.

Tuesday = Chris Simon better drop a cinder block on his foot and be scratched. WWGRD?

Ok, enough is enough with the Kenny Melvin anonymous comments.

We have all moved past this, and it isn't even confirmed that Melvin is Flyer hater.

If you have a problem with something Melvin has done over at LGP please post it there, your comments will be deleted here immediately.

Fleury and Crosby both back on Tuesday, mark it down.

Eric K said...

BGL is slowly becoming a hinderance in the lineup. dont ask where that word came from? he looks slow and just out of place the last couple games.

shame the pens lost that game, conks was solid as usual. fleury will most likely start on tues. and probably earn his starting job back. conks is still gonna be huge somewhere down the stretch, mark that down.

good to see EC net one in his 1st game back, i was actually proud to don the #16 jersey.

how annoying has steigy been the past couple weeks. god you just want bob to throw an elbow into his chops.

train roll on...

Cblog: i met with BNG66 and that man is a solid human being. We met at the Souper Bowl before the ill-fated game and he's a helluva dude.

Errey said it best, post game, when he said that we deserved to win yesterday, and didn't deserve to win today. So either way we came out with two points this weekend. I'd say its not a bad weeks worth or work.

wilsmith: from a hockey stand point, yeah, that'sa great series. from a pens fan standpoint, there's no way i want to see that team in the first round. they are probably the only team i don't want to see....

PittHockey said...

I'd say I'm pissed off about these two games, but coming out of both with 2 points total isn't too bad.

Caps failed against jersey, though. Big surprise.

Also, Malkin needs to step back up, pointless over the weekend doesn't help.

PittHockey said...

also, the team I and every other Pens fan wants to see first round: Caps.

Unfortunately, we'll both finish a high seed most likely.

daismog said...

BGL is starting to play the way he did in game 1 against the Sens, the only game he played in that series. If he doesn't step it up soon, I'm sure he'll be enjoying the view from the press box for a few games. . .

stokes said...

...or not wearing black and gold.

Dr. Turkleton said...

irregardless of where the pens end up in the standings & who they play in the 1st round,i'd be more concerned as to HOW they are playing down the stretch these final 19 games...11 of those being divisional foes

let's get the boys healthy...have the trade-deadline pass...and, as the Wheeling Nailers commercial states "Time To Go To Work !!!!!!!!!!!"
We'll need 100% of the players giving 110%, 100 percent of the time - Now, let's play some hockey !!!

Jonny V said...

Irregardless is not a word.

Flyer Hater said...

Pens need to make a splash at the deadline with this recent losing streak. Crosby for Sundin, Gill, and the rights to the Darryl Sittler commercial.

Dr. Turkleton said...

@johnny v

Yes it is, it means without lack of regard....

if Tony Soprano & Paulie Walnuts can use it...it's good enough for me

Just got back to Cleveland.

I'll comment more about the weekend when I'm not so exhausted AND when I don't have a surgery the next day.

Me = Stunned the tPB didn't use my National Anthem pic from Saturday.

People need to stop shitting on Conklin and calling for Fleury whenever we lose a game. I can't count the number of times I heard this at the game today. If it weren't for Conklin the pens wouldnt have even had a shot at winning this today, making nearly 40 saves and backstopping a pens team that looked pretty damn pathetic until the last 5 minutes of the 3rd.

wilsmith said...

When I went to the Kings game I sat by some know-it-all who was trying to impress the girl he was with. As soon as he got there "aw shit I wanted to see a win not stupid sabourin". So then, 45 minutes into the game when the Kings finally score "see, I told you he sucked. boooo, you suck sabourin". He even looked up towards where we were, I just wanted to flip that guy off for Sabourin to see.

I hate people like that.

stokes said...

Pooch: people want to have their cake and eat it too. It always, in any sport, "what have you done for me lately?"

You can't have it both ways. Its been said on here before and it will be said again: You live by the Conk, you die by the Conk.

Pensblog Staff said...

sorry bng66. did it come late?

wilsmith said...

Why has there not been a Cblog party at some bar on a gameday?

Jonny V said...

Wilsmith, helluva suggestion my friend.

Turkleton, I guess if double negatives are good enough for Soprano and Walnuts, they're good enough for me. Touche.

I thought Steeler fans were the only ones to play the "what have you done for me lately" game. You mean to tell me hockey fans do that too? Leapin' Lizards!

Sorry, Annie was on TMC tonight...

wilsmith said...

Is anyone going to go check out the game at south park thursday?

stokes said...

wilsmith/johnny v: if it would go as well as my meeting up with BNG66 did today-the game notwithstanding- then it should be a great time. Too bad for all you out of town losers!!!! Bwahahahaha!!!!
(That's a joke, BTW.)

wilsmith: i havent decided yet, but they would have to do some serious reconfiguring of that rink, wouldn't they? those two teams are some of the best in the area. its a great idea to try to get people interested in high school hockey.

John said...

Conks stinks in shootouts

wilsmith said...

I dont know, my one friend just took up hockey and plays in a pickup game there every once in a while and has been trying to get me to go. This seems like a good reason to go check out the rink, what they showed on tv made it appear that it could handle a game.

As for going to a bar for a game, if it were a weekend game I would deff. go. I would just shack up somewhere for the night and make a weekend of it (hopefully one of my friends down there would take me in).

stokes said...

They just refurbished the rink- the ice machinery, the ice, the boards, and added glass. but they dont have glass all the way around the rink and the dont have much for the parents and students to sit on, at least not yet. i like south park skating rink. i used to skate out there at least twice a week in high school. it would be cool to see a game to play out there as well.

wilsmith said...

well I'm feeling more and more like going when i think about it, if anyone else is going let me know.

Jonny V said...

why the heck not, I have class until 4:30, but I live only about 20 minutes from South Park.

Bacon077 said...

perhaps if the penguins decided to cycle the puck more in the first two periods, like they did in the third, then they wouldn't have to rely on conklin in the shootout.

god forbid the pens lose in a shootout once in awhile

Has anyone seen the picture of Pat Kane and Modano on the NHL website. Its a mirror image of a picture I have with Dougie Gilmour when I was like 8.
