3 things

1. kristen pb. my bad i misread what you wrote. i mostly pinpointed you because you were the first one to criticize fleury ( is what i was thinking obviously when i reread it you didnt) so my bad. also turnip is a bit much. i would say more like radish.

2. anon who actually was bashing fleury. please tell me who should be starting for the Pens. because fleury is by far the best option.

3. Why is Weekes in goal.

and end rant (oh and like 8/9ths of this is about the last post.

Meltdownblog might be starting up after that 1st period. Sheesh.

If we can't beat Kevin Weekes and the overwhelmingly-average defense in front of him...

Also it seems that the Ruutu well know and love is back. It's about time.

So I leave work tonight, get in my car, turn on 105.9, and the first words out of Mike Lange's mouth are "the Devils have scored two goals on three shots..."

Malkin just scored, huge. Please let us win this game

About to start CuttingMyselfBlog

This is the kind of game I was looking for in my comment on the last post. We lost the game, but we never really looked out of it.

Not great, but a step in the right direction.

so we're in a slump. seems like the fans have lost all hope in them already. why don't we think about years when we really did suck?

thenick - I think sabu has proven himself a bit more than fleury so far. No one wants to see Fleury not play but when you aren't doing well, you get the bench. Defending Fleury saying he is 23 and he's still young and won 40 games last year really doesn't do much either. That was LAST year, this is what we're dealing with this year. Fleury needs to defend himself with his talent, not some bloggers thoughts.

What a total lack of desperation in those last 2 minutes, it really makes the loss hurt that much more...

And I'm also with dude from last post. With all the sky is falling getting yelled by everyone, this place has gotten away from what made it so great last season. Although i guess it will be kind of hard to make photoshops with all of the non-winning going on.

The team looked good after they got down, but somehow they're still getting down. I don't get it. It was definite improvement and it was good to see Georges and Ruutu tearing it up (and will also probably be the victims of one bad play defining your night). Aside from the blind pass, they demonstrated what a fourth line should be doing and should be the catalyst to get things going when they have shifts like they had tonight.

anon 10:11 & anon 10:13

best game by the pens so far this season, if they keep playing like that they will be just fine come April

Crosby and Malkin are carrying this team.
Perhaps they should suggest the other lines to join them.

Time for SecondGuessBlog

Sabourin only stopped 18 shots.

Fleury probably could have won the game since he's used to having to stop 30+.

I just saw that change and laughed.

I'd start, but there's a lack of motivation.

I could chop Crosby and Malkin into some sort of Saving Private Ryan scene with the rest of the team on the stretcher, but its just too depressing to waste time on.

The 1st goal that Sabu let in was soff....

If we hadn't spent the whole 2nd period killing penalties, perhaps things would have been different....

All in all though, the Pens played hard. If they can give that sort of effort consistently, they will win their share of games.

BGL and Ruutu(and talbot esp on the PK) were extremely noticable and i'm not talking about the play that led to the 3rd devils goal. BGL and ruutu, up until that point, did what they're supposed to do: CRUSH people.

Crosby and Malkin are both going to end up with busted back, a la Lemieux, pretty soon. Both had super sweet goals tonight.

Fleury wins this game. i agree with pitthockey.

PK was outstanding.

KeeptheFaithBlog:

obviously, we're due for a win. bring on the Isles.

Gary Roberts should retire said...

You know the season is going like shit when fans start resorting to "well at least they played hard" It's hilarious how far expectations have sunk.

Brett said...

I don't think BGL should be allowed to touch the puck. I noticed a couple of games ago that he constantly is looking at the puck while skating with it. He does not apparently have the ability to skate with his head up.

And that might have been the problem when he centered that behind-the-net pass to the Devils which lead to the three-on-two that iced the game.

He's a presence, for sure, but damn he can't seem to handle the puck any better than my girlfriend can hold her liquor.

The next 3 days are going to be the longest of your life waiting to drop the puck against the Isles. We shouldn't give up the hope but damn.. FrusterationBlog is seriously setting in right now....Thursday is as close to a must win that you can have in November

I believe we are turning the corner, as stated BGL, Rutuu, and even Recchi played much better tonight.. its only a matter of time before some of those good shifts turn into goals and jumpstarts everything.

Go Pens.

Anonymous said...

You all seem to bust on Recchi, but last I checked, he has more points than the overhyped Gary Roberts.

BGL played well tonight, he had some good shots from behind the net and cycled the puck well. It was unfortunate that his pass attempt resulted in the icing of the cake...but bottom line is, we shouldn't have been behind this team 2-0 in the first period.

was at the game tonight....
4th line was insane.
Crowd was pretty much out of it after the Devils went up 2-0.
Staal needs to be scratched, if Colby is scratched to "send a message" shouldnt Staal (who is younger and has only been w/us 1 season) get the same treatment?
Agreed Fleury would win this game.

laraque may not be able to handle the puck, but i would take him in front of the net making a screen or behind the net controlling the puck anyday.

his play along the boards is pretty good in my opinion.
