14-1
[NHL.com recap ]
We told you we weren't recapping this game.
And we're not.
We just have to make this post for game archives sakes.
We did not see any of the game, but looking at the highlights, it seemed like a joke.
If Mark Recchi doesn't get taken off the Powerplay and or get his ice time moved down. People need to start something. If a hostage situation ever was a good idea, now may be the time.
This can't happen anymore.

Recchi is fucking killing me. He is a fourth liner at best. The third period last night was pathetic. Fuckit, we will get'm tomorrow.
Good photoshop image.
Bad collapse by the Pens. Oh well, time to move on and get ready for the next one.
Recchi needs to get off the top line or something drastic might happen.....Don't tempt desperate Pens fans, Therrien.
At this point, I think we have to give up any hope of Recchi playing anywere other than Crosby's wing.
Everyone keeps talking about how Therrien's line changes rewarding good play. Since Recchi's been a top line winger every game so far this season, MT must think he sees something.
I like Recchi. He was one of the top scorers last season, and if the Pens are going to use him, it has to be on a scoring line. But last year he was completely out of gas by the playoffs. Put him on a second (or third with the offensive depth in pittsburgh) scoring line, let him log 10-15 minutes per game.
I've wanted to see malone - christensen - recchi play together all season. Make that our fourth line, and who knows, maybe something good will come of it.
We did not finish plays well yesterday. I though we had the better of the play through the first two periods, but we just couldn't drive it home. Mr. Recchi had something to do with that big time. The question is, whom do you put with sid and malkin? My vote is for ryan malone he is a big body that can get in front of the net and he has shown the ability to finish plays. What do you guys think?
Anyone hear anything about Talbot? Other than him leaving the game due to a sore neck.....
yeah, be glad you didn't see the all-out collapse last night.
sid's jobber goal was pretty sweet though...he could be in the running for an additional waste management position.
Rex photoshop = money.
The Pens need to bring back Paul Stanton, Jim Paek, and Gordie Roberts. They play big time, yet no name defense!
game sucked, we're playing such lazy hockey. we're not gonna make the playoffs if we don't win home games against inferior teams. the East is too good to float around .500 all season
jesus. the amount of golden opportunities that recchi blew last night were almost as many as the amount of turnovers. at least they finally put sid and malkin together, but recchi does not belong anywhere near that line. put ANYBODY on there except for recchi and it's a good line.
i was fuckin pissed when you could hear the toronto fans chanting "fleury". where were the fans to shut them up?
"They'll have to pry the stick from my dead hands!"
Don't f-in tempt me!
I can't take it anymore!
From Rob Rossi at the Trib:
Mark Recchi still plays with incredible passion at age 39, but there's no way he should be third among Penguins forwards in ice time and power-play time, behind only Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin. Recchi's power-play time actually is up from last season, which is odd, as it seemed certain he'd be asked to accept a lesser role. And if he's going to team with Crosby in any capacity, he'd better find his scoring touch real soon. Recchi hasn't scored since the season opener. His shooting percentage is lowest among the team's 11 forwards with at least one goal, at 5.3 percent. That's 1 for 19, and the goal occurred in garbage time in a 4-1 loss at Carolina on a gorgeous, gift-wrapped pass from Malkin. If you're not scoring, you shouldn't be skating with Crosby.
Last night... ugh.
I like the photoshop... Too bad it's that true that someone had to make the image.
Recchi needs put on the fourth line. Gary Roberts needs to take care of Recchi for us, send him a bracelet, he'll figure the rest out.
WHAT is going ON? Is Therrien waiting for some Happy Magical Miracle? Is that why Recchi is still on the top line?
ANYTHING else would be better right now, including, but not exclusive to: a stapler, a dead guy, or a piece of cardboard.
While the Red Sox took on the Colorado Rockies at Fenway Park in Game 2 of the World Series and second-ranked Boston College played at Virginia Tech, the 17,565-seat Garden was less than half-filled for the only matchup this season between two of the NHL's original six franchises.
"You have to remember, I came from New Jersey so I am used to this," chuckled first-year Bruins coach Claude Julien. "Once the Red Sox win the World Series, hopefully we will have enough wins behind us that those fans will want to come watch us."

I thought it was a nice burn.
Sid, Malkin, Syko should be the #1 line and play together every game. Just roll them out there the way Ottawa does with Spezza/Heatley/Alfredsson.
Rob Rossi = MVP.
"ANYTHING else would be better right now, including, but not exclusive to: a stapler, a dead guy, or a piece of cardboard."
But excluding....Jan Hrdina.
Three goals in 37 games. That's how good Recchi has been. I'm pretty sure I could match that playing with Crosby and Malkin.
Saying Therrien is a good coach right now is like saying Stalin was a really good dictator except for those 20 million people he killed. All other nice coaching adjustments MT don't mean shit to me until that giant elephant in the room that is Mark Recchi is off both the first line and power play. Enough is a fucking nough.
heeey lay off Jan Hrdina.. he had confidence issues ><
Although I hope the Penguins turn this around Saturday night, it is not the biggest game in the region (not the annoying steelers either). It’s Ohio State and Penn State up in Happy Valley. #1 vs. #24.
Will Anthony “The Nose” Morelli get his giant beak out of his own orifice to play well enough to win? Run, Run, Incomplete Pass, Punt. If that is a trend I just may kill myself.
Go Pens and Go Penn State.
We should just re-sign Kip Miller and put him on the first line...
Mark Recchi is the new John LeClair.
One other thing about last night's game...
Last night was proof positive that you just can't dress Christensen in the hopes that the game goes to a shootout. Christensen was scratched for the Caps game because he hasn't been playing well at both ends of the ice. EC moved up to center Roberts and Sykora after Talbot went down and that line subsequently gave up three even-strength goals. One of them - Tlusty's second goal- wasn't the forwards' fault; that was a homerun pass that worked because Whitney pinched a bit too far in. But if I remember correctly, the other two were plays where Toronto had set up in the Pens zone and worked the puck around a bit.
EC is never going to supplant Crosby, Malkin or Staal as scoring line centers here. So if EC wants to remain at center, he has to embrace the defensive game a lot more than he is right now. If he insists on playing a scoring role, he needs to embrace the idea of moving to wing and elevating his game accordingly because he's not getting on the scoring lines here as a center. It's no knock on EC...he's buried on the depth chart below some very, very good players.
It took Therrien forever to finally drop Colby Armstrong from Crosby's line last year, if memory serves. But seriously, if the Pens want Recchi's leadership that badly, they should ask him to retire and offer him an assistant coaching position.
Funny how no one points out that MAF isn't very good. It's all Recchi's fault.
Im watching the Habs/Hurricanes game that's on right now, and it's Kovalev's 1000th game, and the announcers are making a big deal out of it especially since he just scored a goal.. but they screwed up the banner at the bottom of the screen.. apparently Kovey is only in his second season (it says 100th career game)
Regarding Recchi, I'm thinking whoever sits in the 500 sections opposite the team bench, make a huge poster logging the minutes of the significant players (much like the one that's been on this blog a couple of times), and after Rex's inevitably inflated icetime minutes, put a few question marks. If that doesn't get Mee-shell's attention, nothing will.
Last nights game was full of suck.
Therrien will eventually move Recchi or he will start playing better, one of the two but he will be moved if he can't get it together.
Roberts, Crosby, Sykora = money in the bank.
Recchi can't be the new John LeClair he hasn't taken out any of his teammates yet.
-Mark
Whatever,
Whatever. Fleury had a couple of lapses, but he had a decent game. The defense hung him out to dry a couple of times by not picking up screens in front of the net. He probably should've stopped Tlusty's breakaway, but sometimes the goalies just lose that battle.
If we're looking at trends here, Fleury has had his share of good games and a few bad ones this year. Recchi has been very, very average (at best) since the opener, yet Therrien continues to stick with him. And it's especially frustrating to watch when Therrien has been much quicker to sit other players when Recchi has been just as bad as they've been. It's starting to look like a double standard.
Apologies abound for us not being involved in the comments recently.
Busy as balls.
Anyone perusing the comments right now will get a kick out of this.
Easily the YouTube of the year.

Whatever,
MAF is so bad he could only win 40 games last season. What a bitch.
Also Kenny Melvin supporting Ron Paul is hilarious.
Melvin is a beast.
How did yinz even find that?
It looks like it's going to be awhile, folks.
why am i not impressed by a goalie winning 40 games?
