After Wednesday's disaster, it is good to have a game a few nights later.
Everyone needs it.
The one drawback is the Canes are usually an awful matchup for the Penguins.
And also not to mention the tropical depressions are red hot.
Expect another job fest.
Pensblog staff gets to make the trip to old lady Mellon for this one.
Nothing quite like the Mellon Arena on a crisp October night.
Hopefully we are close enough to hit Rod "The Bod" Brind'Amour with a battery if things get out of hand.

Even if Sabourin starts, I say the Fleury chant should happen anyway.
And that'd be awesome if they got the snowflakes back on the jumbotron.

Chanting his name isn't going to improve his confidence. Making some big saves and getting a win will.

Sabourin will ddt eric staal tonight
Through 1, the best players in black have been Gonchar (with his defensive play!?!), Malone, Recchi, and Sabourin.
Also, wasn't comment moderation supposed to be disabled during games?
Ryan Whitney is playing Melichar esque tonight, he better get his head out of his ass and soon. Props to Sabu, he's played well and enabled us to come back and tie it up.
The refs have been making some rather questionable calls tonight, but at least they're going both ways.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry right now.

Get Recchi out of there, that late penalty could of cost us the game.
Some thoughts...
1. Did Christensen get hurt or get in the doghouse tonight or something? It didn't seem like his linemates - Ruutu and Hall - were missing a whole bunch of time. Sick goal on the shootout, though.
2. Kudos and plaudets to Sabourin for making me look like an ass with some of my anti-Sabourin comments in the previous thread. He was very good tonight.
3. Go with Fleury tomorrow night or stick with Sabourin? I think Sabourin earned another one tomorrow night, although I could see them going to Fleury so they aren't playing Sabourin two nights in a row.
4. To echo Anon's comments above, I'm sure there are several "Dump Malone" threads over at LGP as well right now, but that might be people conditioned to write them from last season. Malone's been very good this year so far, and I love that second line with him, Malkin and Staal.
5. The next time Steigy refers to Roberts as "Scary Gary", Roberts fires a water bottle from the bench to the booth and clocks Steigerwald in the mouth.

It was Errey calling him 'scary gary'
Ruutu would often fill in for Roberts in the third line after a powerplay, and Hall put in time on the PK, so that left Christensen screwed on ice time
I love the fact that Steigy is even giving the Gary Roberts bracelets acknowledgment, even though he called them WWGD bracelets...
SUCH an amazing game though. It was awesome to watch Sabourin beat out Ward tonight :D
Big win tonight. The atmosphere at the Igloo was great. I have to say that I wasn't thrilled to hear about Sabourin in net but he played well...in fact, he bailed out the D on several occassions with some huge saves.
While there was a great crowd tonight, I got stuck w/ 4-5 drunk yinzers behind me that must have mistaken the arena for Heinz field. I mean I like to have a few drinks b4 pens games on occasion and yeah I might let an F-bomb slip when I'm super frustrated...but when did it become acceptable to yell Faggot as loud as possible for 3 hours? Late in the game one of these retards was yelling "do it for terry shiavo (sp?)" WTF? I can deal with the Mr. Know-It-Alls and the "SHOOOOOT!!!" people, but these guys really irked me.
but anyway, it was a fun game and I can't wait til tomorrow. I almost wish I was at home for the game so I could have heard about the Gary bracelet thing.
I'm to the point where I watch most Penguin games on mute. Steiggy and Errey are unlistenable and the delay on radio drives me crazy. I might actually be looking forward to Joe fucking Beniatti calling the Rangers game Tuesday on Versus.

staal may not have got a point tongiht but he was huge on the penalty kills and had a respectable game. In the third period everyone was on acid and going insane
Anon: I realize Staal's been doing some little things but for goodness sakes.... he's only got 1 point in 6 games and is a -6 in the plus/minus column. Compared to last year, he needs the Amber Alert.
