Against the Odds on Youtube

Courtesy of "Three Stars" on finding this:

Against The Odds on Youtube.
The music, the narrator.
If youwere able to make a highlight reel of your life, you would want Earl Mann to do narrate it.
The video is in different parts.
Part 1

Part 2

Part 3
The Playoffs begin. What a opening montage.

Your computer might crash due to the emotion of Ron Francis taking over Game four.
Maybe one of the most underrated moments in the history of Pittsburgh sports.

Part 5
1940 forever. WOW.
At the 2:00 mark -- what a prediction
What 66 did to Andy Moog was unreal.
At the 7:45 mark.
What a song.

Part 6
The 4:00 mark will tear you up.
At the 8:08 mark is a Blackhawk fan that predicts the Penguins are gonna lose.
Maybe the best moment in the history of film.
Tommy B. in Game 3: Unreal.

Part 7
Lord Stanley

Wow, if you don't get goosebumps watching this then just become a baseball fan. The NFL Films music with these highlights raises your heart rate to 500 BPM. What a video, classic.

Uh, yeah

i dont know how anyone can watch that and still say they hate jagr. what a player. great time to be alive.

Ming the Merciless said...

I never hated Jagr. He was a helluva player.
I don't care that he said he preferred Czech women over American women (the ARE some of the hottest women on the planet), i didn't care when he said he was dying alive towards the end of his time here (he gave us some great years, a couple of cups, he kept the Art Ross in Pittsburgh while Mario was out). I'm pissed that we got dick and squat when we finally did trade him. But that wasn't his fault.

It was actually a mustard and ham sandwhich haha

Thank goodness I can just pop that bad boy in the ol' DVD player whenever I feel like it. I don't see any way YouTube could do it justice.

brendan said...

This has to be one of the best posts in the history of blogging. Yeah, youtube does not give it justice, but just being able to let everyone enjoy it and remember the glory years is priceless. Outstanding job.

When I would be asked as a child what my favorite movie was chances are I would say Against the Odds or One from the Heart...before the MIght Ducks or D2.

There is nothing worse that the Tocchet spaghetti thing.

- Hey Rick, how do you make spaghetti?

- Uh, boil water and add sauce.

- Awesome!

Unreal. When I converted my Portrait of Courage tape to DVD I literally edited that part out.

On the other hand, you want to talk great you talk Mike Stapleton on his guitar and Ulf using a megaphone to tell his kid to "go to bed". Quality TV if there ever was such a thing.

And Snoop, I'll get your DVDs in the mail tomorrow, so you'll get the full AtO experience soon!

pat said...

I don't have any way of getting it to DVD, but if anyone would be willing to trade vhs copies, I've got a copy of A Team In the Building - the Story of the 1988 - 89 Pittsburgh Penguins.

Loser Chris said...

I'd swap for One From the Heart, but that's pretty much it.

What a video.

Here's a jobber article from Canada on who's on the hotseat:

Gary Roberts on the hotseat? I guess every seat Gary Roberts sits on is hot, but hey.

IMO Fleury's going to be the one with the most pressure on him to continue improving and playing consistently.

If anyone could please send me a link, or just post here the soundtrack to this video, especially the sick pump-up and intense songs, I would appreciate it soooo much! Thanks.
