Wow, looks like I picked the wrong day to quit sniffing glue.

Hey Snoop, thanks for the pic. I may have to add a Pens logo to the ninja outfit but otherwise that thing is desktop material all the way.

Wow the Staff is pissed. Is this the shortest post ever?

staff, solid post - hopefully the point is taken by all. it's unfortunate that it has come to this.

loser chris, no problem! i'm stoked you liked it!!! adding the pens logo is a sweet idea - i wish i had thought of it!

wilsmith said...

yeah phil, if you can sort through all the crap on yesterdays comments, then you'll find a discussion about it. That link wasn't posted, but some things to the same effect were.

Hey, can we please talk about something positive around here?

Like...who the hell are the Pens gonna sign in free agency?? http://www.penguinsbuzz.com

Jason said...

i'm hoping to see kariya here next year. i traded for him in nhl 2k7, put him on a line with sid and he dominates. hopefully king shero plays 2k7 as well.
maybe if buffalo manages to sign briere and drury (which is highly unlikely), the pens can offer vanek (restricted free agent) a buttload of money that the sabres wont be able to match. It'll cost a few draft picks but honestly, how many more young stars do they need!?

snoopyjode said...

i'm looking forward to a long term contract for my boy bing. maybe not dipietro long, but something to keep him around for at least a couple of more years. actually, i am kind of hoping that mario's penguin-for-life attitude rubs off on sid. and now, since i've been up for 21 hours, i must go sleep!!! soooooo tired...

Ian said...

I actually think we're better off not spending a "buttload of money" in free agency. Sid's contract is up after this year. He'll obviously get a bigger, higher paying one. Then Malkin and Staal's will be up. In a few years Malkin and Staal might be scary good. Which means we're going to have to shell out some money to them too if we want to keep them around. My opinion (and I could be completely wrong about this) save our money now, use it later.

I hate commentorblog anymore. It's not even a place to post your comments- it's a place to try to be witty and job everyone else. God, people- it's the internet. Nice message from the staff.

We need to bulk up our D in the offseason while getting rid of Melichar and Scuds. Don't care if he is a "power play specialist", he's not worth keeping, in my book.

Anonymous said...

i agree antonette, scruds needs to go.

I was thinking about a 10 year 10 million dollar contract for Sid. That sounds about right. There's also some rumors out there that Ryan Whitney will be offered a long term deal fairly shortly.

Kenny Melvin said...

Is anyone starting to get worried about this whole arena/senate mess?

Joshua said...

kenny you mean 10 million a year over 10 years right? and not 1 million per year?

Kenny Melvin said...

LOL, yeah that's what I mean Joshua. But if Sid really wanted to be a team player he'd accept that deal ;)

thepensblogderek said...

This whole senate mess is really, really starting to get on my nerves.
I was under the impression everything was OK. I had no clue we had to overcome another hurdle.
At the point I don't think the Penguins will do anything, but wow, what do these people do all year? Shouldn't have this been resloved.

I think Sid will take a somewhat lesser contract, something in the 6-7 million dollar a year range. Maybe spread out over 5 or 6 years?
I have no clue.

I just want this senate thing to go away

Barrasso35 said...

I swear to Tom Barrasso, if the Pennsylvania senate fucks up the arena funding I will walk the 960 miles from Manhattan, Kansas to Pittsburgh just to join the riot snoopyjode is going to start.

This shall not stand.

Staff, another good post. I especially liked the tent pic to illustrate the "not happy campers" allusion. That's solid.

Kenny Melvin said...

The arena bill isn't even on the agenda for the senate today. What the hell are these people doing?

Spencemo said...

This is the kind of shit that happens when you have to rely on politicians to get something done. First, they fuck up the whole IOC thing that would have given the city a FREE arena, and now this. Bastards!

OK, I feel better now. Oh, and I'm totally digging the new header picture!

Anonymous said...

Spacemo I really think this whole thing will work out in the end. I guarantee you congress won't recess until the budget and this bill are done.

Politicians are one of the reasons that living in Pennsylvania sucks.

Looks like I'm not the only one who sits around on the job all the time surfing the internet and then waits until the last minute to do a year's worth of work. I can't believe we're electing these assclowns and paying their salaries.

dying alive said...

I said it in the last commentorblog and I'll say it in this one - there is money for Philly's convention center tied up in the same bill as the money for the Pens' new arena. If you don't think Rendell is pushing that thing through, you're either retarded or just moved to PA yesterday.

Kenny Melvin said...

This whole thing boils down to the senators in the middle part of the state want to have their voice heard and not bow down to the big bad cities that are Pittsburgh and Philadelphia. This thing will get down because it always does in the end. People should stop watching sensationalist bullshit and instead focus on free agency.

okay, it isn't fast eddie's blowhard bullshit that has me worried. it's the penguins officials' statements that are freaking me out. dying alive, you're right. there IS no way that eddie will let the budget pass without the money for philadelphia. but remember: philadelphia is and always has been where his loyalty lies in this state. don't for one second think he wouldn't use the pittsburgh arena money as a "sacrificial lamb" of sorts to get what he wants for philly.

and as i said before, if that happens, count on that riot. barrasso35, bring ALL YOUR FRIENDS. we'll work our way from the west and head east towards harrisburg, picking up other pissed off pens fans along the way. ;)

Spencemo said...

Don't think that Pennsylvania politicians have a patent on being boneheads. The ones here in Ohio aren't any better.

Assclowns...heh, heh...

Barrasso35 said...

"...count on that riot. barrasso35, bring ALL YOUR FRIENDS. we'll work our way from the west and head east towards harrisburg, picking up other pissed off pens fans along the way. ;)"

All my friends were happy when it looked like the Penguins were moving to Kansas City... they're a bunch of choads. They would say things like, "Aren't you happy? Your team is gonna move to Kansas City?"

Fuck. You.

I would just stare at them with seething hatred in my eyes... all the times before I wasn't worried. I'd say, "Ha, right! The Penguins leaving Pittsburgh? Please." This last time just felt different, though, there was something in what Mario was saying that makes me think we got really lucky the Pens didn't move.

When Mario announced he was taking the Pens off the market there was a knot in my stomach... it was the same knot I had the entire summer of 1996 but worse.

It was as though everything was colored by the possibility of the Penguins leaving. Didn't matter what was going on, that was always in the back of my mind. When they announced the Pens were staying, it was as though I had been sick for months and was finally better.

So, sorry, snoopyjode, I can bring my mom and my friend Steph, who is also a Pens fan, but that's about it from the Sunflower State. All the rest of these jobbers are sad the Pens aren't setting up shop at the Sprint Center right now.

Bastards.

Other than that, they're pretty good friends. :) (Even the Red Wings, Blues and Avalanche fans among them.)

snoopyjode said...

the only other possibility is that the penguins organization KNOWS that eddie is bluffing, and they're in on it with him helping ed use us fans to create public pressure on the state senate in order to get eddie what eddie wants.

...in which case i would need to take 200 showers after each pens game i watch to get rid of that "dirty" feeling. i really hope the pens didn't sell their collective soul to the pennsylvanian devil to get that arena. i know lemieux would have done just about anything to keep the pens here, and i REALLY do appreciate it, but i just can't fathom mario getting in the figurative bed with rendell... oh, i'm feeling sick to my stomach again...

snoopyjode said...

LOL, barrasso35! "choads" - i haven't heard that in such a long time i had forgotten how funny it was. bring mom and steph. after hitting harrisburg like a hammer, maybe the riot should take a road trip in kansas to give the collective finger to the bastards! THIS RIOT JOB IS GOING ON TOUR.

Update on this whole arena/senate debacle and disgrace.
http://www.postgazette.com/pg/07181/798466-100.stm
After the new budget and additional transportation aid are enacted, the Legislature's third priority is to approve House Bill 1631, a slots-funded capital budget that will help finance a $300 million arena for the Penguins. Sen. Jane Orie, R-McCandless, expects that approval to come, but probably not until later next week.

Penn. State Senate >>> Texas State Senate

I think the Texas state constitution just says job 'em in real fancy writing.

snoopyjode said...

calm down, anon. with so many anonymous posters, it was more of a general statement to the jobbers that show up here and don't use an identity. no need to take personal offense to it if you aren't one of them.

i like your full name, canaan! so do you prefer baking or cooking? (wow. that was a lame joke, no?)

loser chris, today's ninja identity was too easy. you're going to have to make it a little harder for me to find you! ha!!! and i concede:

pa gov't is DEFINITELY > texas gov't

...you poor bastards had dubya for governor. you win. well, actually, i guess you LOSE! ;)

snoopyjode said...

that's a pretty small pic, but i think it's meloche. i can't wait for the free agency recap! i am looking forward to hockey news. the offseason blows... i got to watch some roller hockey the other day, but it's just not the same. i imagine it's like methadone is for a heroin addict: a decent substitute, but not quite as good as the real thing.

thanks snoopy. i realized today that i made this account for my tech writing class...i had to make a project for senior citizens. mine was to "make a blog about recipes" ...clearly, i was original (sarcasm radar)

FA is nearly upon us...its like christmas eve for me...i absolutely love the offseason. ::giggles::

LGP!

snoopyjode said...

LOL, canaan! a recipe blog?! that is hysterical! we had to write a "recipe manual" (swear to GOD) for our tech writing class!!! (in case you're like me and never heard of a "recipe manual," it was just a step by step instruction manual with pictures based on a recipe. gay.) what's with english teachers and recipes? are they all underfed or did they have a convention where they all agreed to job all college students everywhere? :p

i'm a little giddy for the FA madness, myself. AND - tee hee -they get to start contract renewal talks with sid today, too! ahh, today is going to be fun. i can't wait to see who we get!!!
