Emotional High

You may have been taking a shower. You may have been making a pot of coffee.
You may have been taking a dump.
But when the Pens arena deal crept into your mind and blindsided you a few minutes after you woke up Wednesday...what a feeling.

It wasn't a dream.

Welcome to the world of Penguins fans on Wednesday, March 14, 2007.

................................................................................

For any unlucky souls who haven't caught it yet, here is Lemieux's announcement at the Mellon.

Commenter Matt from Wait 'Til Next Year was right.
Listen at the :20 mark.
Versus' microphone had no chance of surviving.
Then at the :33 mark, Lemieux tries talking. There was no chance of that happening.

Goosebumps City.

.........................................................

Penguins stats from the Buffalo game Tuesday night.

Crosby: minus
Gonchar: minus
Recchi: minus
Malone: minus
Melichar: minus
Nasreddine: plus (meaning he's the best d-man on the team.)

Final score:

Pens 5
Sabres 4

Ryan Patsko

Pat Jackson

And just wait till Erik Christensen scores a goal.

..............................................................

Steve Denny sent us this hilarious link about provisions to the new Pens arena.
Gold.

...Rick "Ted Dibiase" DiPietro was injured Tuesday night in a game against Montreal...

The Penguins: 30-year lease.
Rick DiPietro: 15-year contract.
Islanders: Mud without Rick DiPietro.

...Mike Modano scored his 50oth career goal Tuesday night; putting him 2 behind Slippery Rock Joe Mullen for the all-time NHL mark for goals by a U.S.-born player...

Joe Mullen = Stunned.

Pens - Devils
Wednesday night.
7:30

...Rich Lord, who sounds like he's a 42-year-old reliever from an early '90s Pirates team, comes out of nowhere with this article regarding the Devils new proposed arena...

........................

PenguinsBuzz.com snuck into our link list a couple of days ago.

Looks pretty solid.

Go Pens.

I in fact WAS taking a dump at the time of the announcement... big one too... yet nothing prepared me for the ass-a-lanche that ensued after reading.

Poop is funny.

Let's go Pens!

Steve said...

Crosby is going to bite the faces right off the Devils tonight.

Viewer discretion IS advised.

Does anyone care about a severe thunderstorm warning when it comes in the middle of the Pens game?

Karri

Ahhhhhhhhhhh....The stupid National Weather Service!!!!!

Karri,
I had the same problem......ahhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was about to pick up the TV and throw it out the window!!!!! I turned Mike Lange on because of the stupid weather alert.

warning: RANT

I watch the games on comcast.net, but I can't get any of the games in New Jersey or New York, because I live in Philly and it's blacked out. I got into a hearty row with the comcast guy about it tonight because he kept telling me to 'watch it on the local channel', which, of course I don't get and comcast can't provide me with. He actually had the nerve to RAISE HIS VOICE to me (a kind, gentle, harmless woman) and then hang up on me!?!

Please tell me other people hate comcast.

Rachel...what is that Staal stat?

Karri

rachel said...

Karri, for you...

Staal scores:

22-0-3

I totally missed the thunderstorm warning... no wonder why I'm seeing lightning and hearing thunder now, haha

How good does it feel to finally win a game in regulation! And to beat Marty at his own game!

Sorry, for all the comments..

Anonymous said...

Thanks Rachel...hahaha...amazing stat!

Rachel,
YAY!!!!!!!!!! It totally feels good not only to win in regulation, but to beat the Devils!!! First the the top team in the NHL (right now, the Buffalo Sabres), and now the 2nd best team in the NHL (at the moment, the NJ Devils). Ahhhhh!!!!!!! I feel like I'm dreaming......and the Staal stats......unreal. Btw, you don't have to apologize about too many comments. Have you seen the last few posts from me??? ;D

rachel said...

Staal also has the same amount of goals he had last year in Juniors, 28!

We just beat the #1 and #2 teams in the East in consecutive nights!

Seth, I'm waiting for the March stat :)

Steeltown Mike said...

Karri,

When I first read your comment, I thought you were listening to our broadcast out of Uniontown. I did, indeed, interrupt the broadcast after the Pens took a 1-0 lead.

Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that it's a regulation of the FCC to break in with the severe weather alerts...

But I tried to pick a time when nothing was really going on...

Elizabeth...I hate Comcast too! (No choice...live in the sticks...surrounded by sticks...limited satellite) Oh well, have FSN Pgh. Get to see the Pens!!!)

Karri

rachel said...

Thanks Tiff, haha another comment...

Did anyone else notice how horrible that ice was tonight? I think everyone just randomly fell down at least once in the game.

Anonymous said...

Steeltown Mike, I know...I know...weather warnings are quite important...however, they froze my TV screen for what seemed to be an eternity...

FSN said that it was the Penguins' 1st shutout over the Devils EVER in NJ......wow!!!

Rachel,
Haha.....yeah...the fallen soldiers on the ice was pretty funny. ;) The NJ breakaway, after Gonchar fell, had me scared a bit, though. But Thibault was so solid tonight. I'm psyched he got a shutout....and against the Devils!!! Then, the Roberts fight was nice...

EC scored a goal. Does this mean photoshop goodness in our future?

Elizabeth said...

Thanks for commiserating Karri.

There is no reason why that 2nd seed isn't ours. Maybe Brodeur will take a Nancy Kerrigan to the shins from a Pens fan who lives close to NJ and needs to let out some aggression. Teehee. Or we could just win it outright. whatever.

rachel said...

And just wait till Erik Christensen scores a goal.
I'm waiting for the photoshop!

I would have to say that I'm extremely happy we got Roberts.

Some of my highlights of the game:
- Ruutu with 1 goal, 1 assist
- Christensen being a sniper as always
- Talbot and Armstrong play great together
- Malone seems like a new guy these past few games
- Defense seemed to be supporting each other more
- Shutout from our back-up
- Roberts with another fight
- Staal with 28 goals... 22-0-3
- Regulation win, finally!
- Beating the top 2 teams in the East consecutively

Rachel...nice recap.

Elizabeth...hahahaha....

My highlights of the game - hearing the Devils organist play Rock Lobster, and watching Madden go totally retarded on his breakaway attempt.

Steve said...

Give it up to T-BO. The guy brought his 'A' game tonight. Overall good performance from all aspects.

If we can maintain this type of intensity and toughness we're gonna be feared come playoffs.

rachel said...

Thanks, Karri!

Steve, I completely agree. T-bo was great tonight! He gave up very few rebounds and made some big saves, well obviously since he got the shutout... I think the Pens will definitely be feared come playoff time.

Was Madden playing in the same game we were all watching?
"They came out flat and we missed some good opportunities. They just kept chipping away, the way they should have after their game last night. They kept putting the puck deep and we kept turning it over."

And someone's a little bitter he couldn't get a shot on net after the world's longest breakaway, haha.
"I missed the net, hit the glass," said Madden, who slightly injured his groin in the third period. "He didn't get a save. I didn't get a shot on net."

Madden's comments are ridiculous.

Someone should tell him that he ought to be embarrassed at practically shooting the puck into the crowd on a breakaway that started in Newark, but he's too busy trying to slag on Thibault and the Pens to notice.

Asshat.

dying alive said...

By the way, a "slightly injured groin" sounds like a sign of a chronic masturbator to me. Although Bobby Errey seemed to think that it might be because of the terrible ice they were playing on. Apparently NJ ice has been taking out groins all over the league this season.
