The Islanders Again? PENS LOSE.

POST-GAZETTE EMPTY NETTERS RECAP
IT'S A GOOD ONE.

The ghosts of Glenn Healy and the 1993 Islanders were awoken on Monday afternoon.

There's really nothing to say about this game because we didn't see it, because of work stuff.
It is most likely better for everyone that we didn't get to see it.
Because Ted Nolan jokes would've been everywhere.
Although listening to Mike Lange on the radio when the Isles scored was gut-wrenching.

The streak is finally over.
Back in October, if you said that Pens fans would be depressed in mid-February because a 16-game point streak was snapped...

What this streak has done is allow the Pens go through a slump sometime later in the year and still be okay in terms of the playoffs.

Let's face it, everyone. This is only the beginning...
...of the longest month and a half of our lives.

Picture: Adam when he got off work at 3:30.

Crosby had 4 assists.
Recchi had 5 points.
Malone with a hat trick.

..............................................................

The next post down is the final installment of Mark Eaton Photoshops.
(But if you're working on one, by all means, send it.)

We are going to change the date of the posts soon, too, so the pictures don't take up bandwidth on the main page for any dial-up people.

Thank you all for dedicating your time towards these Photoshops.

But the end of the streak must bring change.

Mark Eaton jokes aren't retired, but they are now on the fourth line.

highlight of the game today: hearing Bob Errey tell Steigy "I'm gonna get off the headset here, Steigy and call the war-room in Toronto to see about this goal."

I thought he was joking, but oh no, Bob Errey has the war-room on speed dial.

Well, i knew this day would eventually come, the Pens first regulation loss since Mark Eaton's return.

That means his record has fallen and this is my last update.

17-4-1

...farewell

Never in my life would i hope for Alain Nasreddine to be back in the lineup. Why is Melichar in there? Does anyone have a reasonable answer to this question (other than naked pics of MT)?

All good things must come to an end, but there are bigger and better things ahead of us. Its real nice to see us scoring as a team, allowing us to win some important games even when Sid doesn't drop one in. Real exciting times ahead of us.

I love Errey.

hahahaha, naked MT pics solve all problems.

Seth...it was a good run.

Oh man.....lots and lots of tears. ;(
The picture at the top of the page says it all. True, you can't win 'em all.......but it would've been nice. Maybe now that they HAVE lost, they'll be hungry for another winning streak and possibly figure out how to keep their leads once they get them--one of their few flaws as of late.

They've come such a long way since last year, though, and I can't imagine how exhausted they must be--emotionally and physically. The whole team has been workin' really hard, so now they'll get a couple of days to regroup.

Oh, and I hate to say anything bad about anyone, but I have to agree that perhaps Melichar should be scratched. He was pretty darn sloppy today, but I think he's been in because Nasreddine and his wife just had a little baby......but then why haven't they put in Thorburn?? Hmmm......maybe now they will if Nas is still out on Thursday.

as to anonymous i don't know why you wouldn't hope for alain to be back he has been phenomonel for us as of late. Leading the team in plus minis with only like 20 penalty minutes or something AS A DEFENSEMAN... I mean melichar STINKS, i say it time and time again and my dad and i say that phrase more than "i love you" or "talk to you later" I just can't wait till hes back so we can start another insane streak like the one that just ended.

go pens, go state.

and tiffany thorburn is a forward not a defenseman sweetheart, so without alain melichar takes his spot, thorburn still has no roster spot to fill untill MT sends a forward down ( i thought it would be malone before the game but apparently not anymore, god damn drunk)

Hahahaha......omg.....maybe I'm a little drunk. :P
Oooops.....

And something else....the '93 Stanley Cup playoffs YouTube video, the one Empty Netters provided, seems like almost a mirror image of what happened today.

I meant that when Alain was called up i never thought i would be eagerly anticipating his return like i am now. Not that i am dissing him now, because i am definately not. I know how good those stats are, even if +/- is a little misleading.

Am I the only one who thought when Errey said he was "going to get on the phone with the war room" that it was a code for "I'm gonna go take a dump"?

Can't they just put Welch in for Melichar?

Steigy: "I don't remember having school off for President's day, do you Bob?"
Errey: "Uh, I was in Canada"

Priceless.

Empty Netters is cool with us now, he wrote us back.

Post gazette is still mud

I heard something about them possibly trading Welch, too......guess we'll have to just wait and see.

Steigy: "I don't remember having school off for President's day, do you Bob?"
Errey: "Uh, I was in Canada."

-That WAS funny.....

You know, i was upset when fsn got rid of lange and i went into the season holding a grudge on steigy.

However, Steigy and Errey certainly are no Lange and Olczyk, they're grwoing on me.

If I can't have the Lange/Olczyk tandem, i'll gladly take Stegy/Errey as a close second.

Peple are way angrier than they should be. They're expecting too much out of a team that wasn't supposed to be this good right now. I think that this loss might be the best thing for them, because now they'll think some more.

Guh, I just can't deal with all the greedy fans pissed that we lost.

On one had I have to say it was a reassurance that the Penguins finally lost a game.
Everyone at home telling me that I'm bad luck for the Penguins- who went on a crazy win streak the moment I left the country. Bastards :(

It didn't sound like that great of a game, and I'm sure now that we've lost the Penguins will be dead to the Pittsburgh media once again.

On the Penguins though, we've played 10 games in the last 19 days. The last three in four days against the Devils, Caps and then the Islanders less then 24 hours later.
And everyone's pissed because we lost a game? Damn. Two weeks ago we played a game every other day. (which is happening almost 3 weeks next month) Pgh needs to let the kids sleep a night before they ridicule their performance.

Thanks for the props guys. We'll get you some love soon also. I'm still trying to figure this thing out.
