Sometimes, a story comes along that makes me fall out of my computer chair when I see it.
Rick DiPietro, the New York Islanders goaltender, has become the face of the franchise by signing a 15-year, $67.5 million contract. At the end of his contract, I will be 37 years old.
The contract pays him $4.5 million per year. We wanted to break down his contract (using his 2005-06 stats):
$2,782 per save.
$1,259 per minute played.
$71,428 per game.
$4.5 million per shutout.
